If this draft is as deep as they say, and only has 4-5 top players, I don't see the need to move up 4 spots. - jmatchett383
I agree. Trading Coburn just to move up 4 spots is absurd imo |

People on here are far under valuing Coburn and have for a while. He is a very solid defenseman. Bob McKenzie had him on team Canada for Sochi last summer. I do think #5 is an overpayment by Carolina, but hey - phatpat44
We did get 8 and jake for Carter and defensemen have more value then forwards |

Thanks, as of today, I've lost 33lbs and 5 inches off my waist. If I can drop another 20lbs and lose 3 more inches, I will be where I was at age 25!! |

But....he needs to be a 23 year old 80 point producer....
COME ON HOMER WHAT ARE YOU DOING - Giroux_Is_God
If he's going to be a 40-60 pt scorer he better be a whole lot better defensively. |

I like Coburn a lot, but if Carolina is willing to move the 5th pick in a draft with at least 5 special players available straight up for Coburn, that's a deal you have to make. |

It was the "good flashes..better if moved" that caught my attention. The "flashes" I can attribute to a youngster finding his way. The needing to be "moved" frighted me. Why would you need to be moved to play in the NHL? - 77rams
Different team have different systems, a player might work better with a defensive first system or vice versa (offensive first). Or chemistry with team mates/coach. I'm sure there's a lot of reasons why a move can be good for a player. And playing on the Oilers, that keeps losing and missing playoffs, isn't very good in the long run for young players development and confidence. |

If Braydon Coburn straight up gets the Flyers 7 and a fourth, Paul Holmgren has served the Flyers well. - AllInForFlyers
No way coburn alone gets the 7th overall and a 4th |

This.
Again, Edmonton's depth...it's not great, and they were really young, had injuries.
It's entirely possible that a winger who struggles there might be a better fit here. I tend to believe that would actually be the case, in this particular case.
