Even if they were to trade Coburn, the 41st pick and a prospect to get the 5th pick from Carolina I would do it in a heartbeat.
To walk away from this draft with Nichushkin AND Ristolainen or Pulock without having to move B Schenn or Couturier would be awesome. |

Makes good sense.
I still don't want Paajarvi - 77rams
I would like to take a chance with him (preferably without giving up Coburn) but I'm kind of 'biased' since I'm also a Swede. |

Per tpanotch, it's now about getting both of Edmonton's 2nd round picks, not their first.
And somehow, I like it even less. |

If they can get 5, a plethora of options opens up. There's no way of knowing for sure who will be available. Even Jones could drop to 5, and then the decision at 11 could be anything. Another defenseman, or a forward, or trading down to pick up more draft picks in the 1st round. |

I still believe Nishichkin will be going 3rd to Tampa, personally. |

Then they get a shot at Barkov, who I'd rather have than Nichushkin anyhow |

IF (big IF) they pick up the 5th and keep the 11th, they're guaranteed a shot at one of Drouin, Barkov, Jones, or Nichuskinskyov. I'd take whichever one of them, then use the 11 to draft the best dman/forward (opposite of what you took at 5) and call it a day.
But really, they'll make some horrible trade, trade Coburn and 11 for a middling forward and a slightly better pick, and draft another forward, or Nurse (who seems like a big project to me). |

If Colorado takes Mackinnon, I have to think Florida will either take Jones or make trade to someone else who will. |

See, that...if you're the Flyers and you walk yourself into 5, then you're looking at either a sliding Jonathan Drouin or Alexander Barkov.
You have won at life, then. Drouin needs to get a little bigger, develop some, but that is the type of winger you put with a Couturier or Schenn/Simmonds, and YOU ARE ROLLING.
If it's Barkov, then you can flash your brass set, move Couturier for the haul that Elliotte Friedman says is out there waiting for Holmgren to move him, drop Barkov in that spot, and YOU WIN AGAIN.
The fifth slot was always the key in this draft, if you're the Flyers. Doesn't mean they'll get there, but it was always the key.

Huh? Couturier was a guy that fell, and Laughton was seen as a minor reach. |
