"Such a deal would likely look something like Brayden Schenn, Nick Cousins and the Flyers 2nd round pick" according to Ek. - JAKEw1234
I'd have to do that for sure. I think it will be higher then that.

That wasn't random. Vinny dumped Kimmo (?) then luke started yappin. Also, hockey players are probably the best in pro sports at "leaving it on the ice" - phatpat44
Yea I think the cheap shot he gave talbot would be more to talk about |

Yeah and a few hours later he said they were no longer in on Letang - Jsaquella
You know, the thing about Kris Letang is this: He effectively has a modified no-trade clause.
With him having one year left on his contract, yet looking for (likely) $7.5 per, then there's only so many places he can go to begin with.
You throw in what the other team has to throw in, there's a few less teams.
But the kicker is this: Kris Letang doesn't have to sign anywhere he doesn't want to play. That's what effed up Ray Shero last year -- Jordan Staal didn't have to extend with anyone he didn't want to.
Kris Letang isn't driving the bus on this, but it's clear he's riding in the front seat with the GPS in his hand. |

I feel the dumb part of the fanbase complained about the Flyers down season and said that Homer needs to go. Then at the same time, they complain about the team being too impatient. You can only have it one way or the other. - PhillySportsGuy
you must be new here
we want to get stamkos/bob ryan/seth jones
and keep all our young players
win now, blow it up, everything

Even with all the speculation and rumors floating around, I thought there would be more things actually happening today. I thought there were going to be quite a few mix ups. It might still happen, but its kind of been crickets. |

Ryan will sign with the Flyers when he hits UFA status, no need to give up assets for him |

The statement seemed to suggest that the Flyers weren't showing patience. And that he wished they would. It was pretty clear. There seems to be a myth that has developed in the fanbase, that the Flyers don't have a plan. I think the lack of patience is with the fanbase. And that's understandable. But when the Flyers radically changed direction, and traded 17 & 18. It was known that it wasn't going to be an overnight process. The process is still ongoing. - MJL
To take that a step further part of the plan was to get bigger forwards so look at the haul (Jake, Simmonds, coots, schenn) and the ufa's we let go that season were smaller. Now add homers comments this off season again about getting bigger and notice how read is on the block and Briere is gone. Ilike the direction here. |

If that had been offered just as that sounds, I can't believe Homer wouldn't have taken that -- if you're actively shopping Coburn and Read only has one year left on his deal, it doesn't get better than that. - AllInForFlyers
Yeah 22 and 28 for Read and a 3rd I think Homer would be all over that. |

The fact that he would give them a hometown discount is a good counter for Homer's overpayment. The contract will probably be fair value in the end. |

My gut feeling:
Homer is deadpan against trading Read.
I don't know why I think that, but I do. Maybe it's the lack of name dropping in rumors, especially during this past season, even though he's cheap as hell and would fetch a pretty nice return to a contender?
I dunno. I just don't think we'll see him dealt unless it's for an all star Dman |
