Only way profar is being dealt is if david price is going to texas - phatpat44
Why do you say that? They just signed Elvis Andrus to a huge extension and the Rangers have money. |

certainly more than Mez. I'm just nervous to get rid of a guy who is fairly reliable when paired with another top 4 dman. - PhillySportsGuy
Mesz would be a salary dump. Coburn would be a talent dump we'd be unlikely to replace. |

and a good playoff performer and generally pretty healthy - Dkos
I don't see any reason to deal any of the defenseman unless something very favorable comes along. This is a defense core with old age and serious injury history. |

I agree. Gus is currently the 7th dman and I bet he'd end up playing a lot. |

That is of course unless TB signs him to an extension which is highlyy unlikely. I cant see them trading a 20 year old #1 prospect in baseball who hasnt had an arbitration year yet for a 34 year old unless the phillies a significant portion of the contract. I know texas really wants price or stanton |

It's the one step forward, one/two steps back approach that's gotten this team where it is today.
Coburn is a top four d-man beginning his prime years, an excellent shut down d-man with the right partner. Why would you want to move someone like that? |

With the injury question marks, and if we traded Coburn, we'd have to be picking up another d-man, it just wouldn't work any other way.
I'm pretty comfortable with Gus playing #6 minutes. I think he's demonstrated he can handle it. And I have confidence in Lauridsen, but I don't think he's going to be ready right out of the gate, and we can't have any mistakes opening up this season ... we need to set the tone as soon as the first puck drops and start winning. |

Stanton won't be available unless the team overpays for him. The Rays are in the playoff race, so I don't know if they'd trade Price until the offseason. Lee makes them better right now. I also believe the Phillies would pay part of that salary. |

Agreed. And I have no idea...I really hope Coby doesn't go anywhere. |

Perfect Blog to set the tone for draft weekend. Forget Canada Day, the fireworks on draft day should be far more entertaining. Just about every draft preview I've seen suggests the Flyers are hard for a defenseman namely Rasmus Ristolainen or
Nikita Zadorov is that the general consensus around here? |

That's why i think texas holds on to him. Price will be traded this summer in all likelyhood, and texas needs profar to make it happen |

Then you're forced to win a bidding war.
I would be ok with trading Coburn as long as it's the right deal. I don't want them to go into the offseason saying "We are going to trade Coburn for the best return we can get" |

we've had this discussion before on this board and i was in the minority then, but i still am ok with trading coburn if we get a good package of prospects/picks. i just think the flyers could stand to take a more long-term approach |

Throw in Pulock also. They will draft a forward if someone like Monahan or Lindholm drops |

Don't like Ristolainen.
I read about him and I envision the second coming of Joni Pitkanen. |

Most likely tomorrow. I think a lot will depend on how the draft goes. If Jones drops, I could see the Flyers putting together one hell of a package to go up and get him before he gets to Carolina. |

flyers are really tough to predict when it comes to drafting, but if i had to place money on it i think they'd be the favorites (risto 1 zadorov 2) |

Joni is actually a pretty good player, But I know what you're saying. I see Risto as a solid top 4 dman. I see him as coburn but a better passer. |

I should be excited but feel a sense of impending doom.
The trading Coburn talk is depressing, I just feel like they are going to screw it up somehow.
Could be worse I suppose.
NYRs are keeping Brad Richards around.
At least they moved on from Bryz. - Marc D
You are so negative Marc. You need look back to last summer as a reminder how on top of things and buttoned up they are.
Last summer should have you overflowing with confidence. |
