Imagine if he came to Vancouver and was Luongo's backup? - lkeh73
I think Vancouver trades Schnieder for a very nice return.
Luongo is their starting goalie next year.
Bryzgalov signs on as backup and does a good job for the Canucks.
The Flyers may have acted too quickly in buying out Bryzgalov.

I thought Thomas was done playing hockey....pretty sure if Bob does resign then Kekalainen might turns towards Halak. |

Come on guys obviously he is not gonna be a starter! - justahockeyguy2
If a team needs a starter badly enough then he will be. Places like Florida, Tampa, or Calgary feel he's the best option then they'll try to get him as a stopgap starter. |

Here's what I'm going to assume....I'm going to assume that someone in Columbus floated this rumor to Ek in order to show Bobs that maybe he doesn't have all the negotiating power for the new contract. And Ek is just reporting what he heard....which is his job.
Otherwise, this makes no sense (and/or he's just making it up).
Unless they get him wicked cheap and Bobs is definitely not coming back. I think Bryzy and Mike Smith would be waaaay better options in CBJ.
I dunno...a 40 year old TT on a one year cheap deal does make sense for someone looking for a backup with experience. I can see him in COL or FLA.

Washington should trade for his rights and make sure he never plays again. |

If Calgary signs him I will boo that bastard till he retires.
Feaster is pretty dumb if he's prioritizing goaltending at this point, at any rate |

There was no "acting too quickly" in buying him out. There was no way we were keeping him for 7 more years. He'd have to instantly into a perennial vezina nominee for us to keep him for his whole contract. Playing solidly isn't even enough to warrant the contract amount or length. Only playing amazingly every year would warrant that contract. |

Didn't your starter just retire? Shouldn't that be at least a little bit up on the priority list? |

I don't think that Bigot should be allowed back in the NHL for using his celebrity to bash Homosexuals. He is a joke and should just retire. - CanadaSlayer
So Tim Thomas isn't allowed to have his own views according to you. Who's the bigot here? |

Not if your team is tanking for a few years to reload on prospects. |

Floating that Thomas might go to Columbus doesn't give them any leverage over Bob . Only having another Vezina nominee on roster would give them any leverage over him. A 40 year-old, past vezina winning-headcase who hasn't played hockey in over a year now doesn't give them that leverage. |

He was washed up anyway. The most a good goalie could do for Calgary next year is give them a crappier draft position
Goaltending is difficult to predict long term and teams have rebuilt without necessarily emphasizing goaltending first. Most of the goalies on the trade market aren't worth assets for Calgary, and I will be apoplectic if they draft Fucale with one of their later 1sts (they're actually fairly deep in goaltending prospects) |

So the big news of the day is a guy who quit wants back in as a backup to the Vezina winner...and that a day before the draft a lot of names are being discussed in trades? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you have compromising pictures of whoever the hell still pays for your crap... (e27)
