Raiders fans loved al Davis too. Nobody says he doesn't care or try his hardest - Just5
But can we all acknowledge that he had every right to be at the draft yesterday?
I mean, seriously -- we get it. We all get it. No Stanley Cup since 1975.
Everybody gets it. Every single person gets it. WE ALL GET IT.
That doesn't mean the guy is the spawn of evil incarnate and doesn't give a crap about the team and what it means to be the owner. |

When Davis got into his old age, his teams sucked. The Flyers have generally been a second tier contender, at worst, during Snider's 70's and into his 80's. - Jsaquella

During those early 1990's, Ed Snider was not involved in running the team. Jay Snider was running the show during that era. It was when Ed Snider returned that the team returned to glory. |

The ole Double J is the GM of the the Cowboys, for all intents and purposes.
Ed is not nearly that involved. |

After reaching at # 11 and taking a project, and taking a 6th round talent in the third round, would have made more sense to package # 11 and # 72 for Schneider. |

There is a reason he hired Homer right?
It is his team, but he isnt the one who should have a say on the guys they draft or trade for. Then he allows his fanaticism get in the way of business... and ends up like Al Davis. - jak521
I agree to an extent. At the same time, If I owned the Flyers I'd be involved in every aspect of the team.
I'm ok with him being involved. In my mind he has every right to be there.

When I saw how cheap Vancouver let him go I was dumbfounded.
I still cannot believe that they think they're going with Mason as the #1 next year. |

This is the same management that thought they could go with Leighton as #1 goalie.

How do you know Vancouver would of taken that deal. Most players taken in the first round are projects. How do you know who they took in the 3rd round is a 6th round talent? Have you seen the player actually play? |

We haven't even hit free agency yet, it's not etched in stone that Mason will be the guy next year. |

What I'm wondering about this morning is Coburn's time as a Flyer over?
After all the trade rumors can they bring him back next season or are they set on moving him?
I'm glad they didn't trade him for a couple of 2nd round picks and would welcome him back in his proper role.
I think they still want to clear cap space to pick up a free agent forward.
My nightmare right now is they trade him for less then value and use his dollars on Ryan Clough or something like that.

Deadline for qualifying offers is tomorrow. Expect the #Flyers to send them to Lauridsen, Gustafsson and probably Manning.
I can't see any of the other RFAs getting a QO. |

True, but the FA pool is crap. Nothing but old dudes, backups, and guys one post-to-post move away from injury.
Imho, of course. |

I'm happy that he wasn't traded for a couple of seconds, I was intrigued by the possibility of getting the 7th pick, but Coburn is a solid player. He has a fair market cap hit, he's a top 4 defenseman who can play a lot of minutes.
They have a few questions in terms of health and trading Coburn means relying more heavily on those guys. |
