Do we really know that they could've moved down? It takes another team willing to make a deal that you like to move down. All the talk was of Carolina moving the 5th pick. Well if that was true, they didn't get a deal they liked, so they made the pick. If you try and make a deal to move down, and are unsuccessful. Then you make the pick.

If you believe what you read, he helped Luke Schenn some -- playing with Kimmo Timonen certainly helped more, but Schenn was monstrous even when playing with Oliver Lauridsen.

With Terry Murray in house, and if Pronger's truly active within the organization...Lauridsen showed signs of development, as a sixth-rounder. Marc-Andre Bourdon developed into an NHL-capable defenseman. Erik Gustafsson shows signs of development, as an undrafted free agent, as does Brandon Manning.

Why is it that so many are so certain that Samuel Morin won't develop? I might not have taken him at 11, but if he can skate well enough, I don't know that I wouldn't have, either.

Who could blame him, they've been jerking him around for over a year now.

Encouraging signs are that he shot up the rankings and that Simon Nolet probably had a big hand in the selection.

No guarantee that he would have been there if they had traded down... doubt the Flyers were the only team in love with him.

No. Devils had a need at G. They got an NHL caliber starting goalie who is going to be very good. #9 pick didn't have anyone there at that level.
