Yes they did... they thought Nino was ready.

He wasn't ready mentally!!!

Still not!!!

- jimmc7722

Niño wasnt ready for the NHL physically or mentally when he was rushed onto the roster. Just because he is a big kid for his age doesn't mean he was physically ready for the NHL. His skills weren't nearly sharp enough to play in the NHL.

Bottom line on Niño: he was rushed, he was miscast, and his development was delayed because of it. Instead of having a good attitude and just working on his game, Niño and his agent saw fit to whine and b*tch until they successfully whined and b*tched Nino's was off Long Island. His fate was sealed when his agent asked for a trade.

I for one wasnt a big fan of nino from day one. I thought he was a reach and would have preferred Cam Fowler. Once all the whining started, I became indifferent to them keeping him. Maybe he will become a great player, but I don't think he will. I think he'll be a serviceable top six winger, nothing more.

Okposo's value is peaking right now, especially after that playoff performance. Use him in a trade to land some top line talent.
- Mr.Black

If they can land Horton, use Okposo and some of the # of defense prospects in a package to STL

Nino for Clutter is nothing?

XxNYIxX

- XxNYIxX

no.. you trade a top 5 pick for a 3rd liner?? Come on. These guys are a dime a dozen! I'm sure Nino could have been a piece in a deal to land us some actual talent.

I would be worried about trading KO, especially if he finally found his game. I would be shocked if they signed Horton.

...and this is why they could not get more than DP straight up for him, because he is a selfish twat.
- dcb1

Selfish? He has been told for more then 2 seasons that the team will do what they can to move him, They have told him that Cory was the guy moving forward. So he's selfish to have made arrangements in that direction?

They could not get more for him then DP straight up because of the contract, not because of the man or the talent.

He has even publicly stated that he would tear up the contract if he could.

Just because its not the move you wanted does not negate the trade.

You cant say he does nothing after he's done something significant good or bad

For that money.....you show up to work with your mouth shut and do your job....you think I like everything my employer makes me do? If I was Vancouver's GM, I'd have told him, "grow the f**k up, douche...seriously." No interest- this has been all about him from day one. ALL about HIM, and what HE wants. He's more of a diva than Elton John...

PS- that's ALSO why Niederreiter is gone, by the way.

I'm sure if Garth had a do-over, he would select Fowler. Still not sure why he fell? The Hockey draft is soo tough. Most of these kids need years before they are ready. The NFL and NBA draft are great because these kids are ready for the most part. The NHL GM's and fans want to see these kids on the NHL level yesterday, they get fustrated of waiting and many of these kids get rushed.

He will show up to work, he hasn't sat out, he hasn't refused to report to the team.

he hasn't refused to do anything team related.

Im no Lou fan, but the team cr@ped the bed with this whole situation, this is the teams fault not Lou's

I agree with this and it's one of the reason's I wouldn't be opposed to the NHL moving the age back to 20.

They didn't handle it well, but the first person who didn't handle it well (when Schneider replaced him) is the one he sees when he looks in the mirror. Just show up to work, and if that means riding the pine, you ride it. The idea is to win a Cup, not to worry about who the goalie is, and air your sh*t stink in the press. Those are the players I want on the team, the ones who want to WIN, regardless of what that means for them.....which is why I'm also glad Nino is gone, as I said.

I love the idea of moving back to age 20. I cannot take waiting 3 or 4 years for many of these guys. GM's are under the gun to get these guys helping out the NHL club. It's no wonder why many guys are rushed.

I'm not sure why they don't do it. It seems to be a win for everyone. The NHL gets kids that can step in right away. The CHL doesn't need to worry about losing their 18 year old stars.

Stop whining, outside of trading for 35 plus yr old d-men and waiver wire pickups, Snow landed a bona fide roster player that can help this team.

Clutterbuck is a 1.4M forward and his GM had to deal him because of the cap due last years UFA signings and signing Backstrom. Maybe Snow finally has a trading partner.

I have no idea why I even watch the draft? Unless the Isles have the #1overall, I should skip it. It just bores and fustrates me. Have to skip until at least the Isles are in Brooklyn.

spoke to some canucks fans who would have liked nino and the 15th better than just the 9th. I like nino and I think he game can translate but we all know he is a brat. I would have like more in return but Clutterbuck will be a great fit on this team. also I love pulock as well someone who really stood out to me when I started researching this draft...all and all it was a good day I think...

i don't know yet. I don't like the Clutterbuck move.
Still need a top line forward, goalie and dman. Not comfortable with the depending on the free agent market considering our lack of productivity in that genre over the last few years
I just feel that Nino had the potential value in a package to bring home some one of far greater impact.

Absolutely agree. My expectations were low. It's not a mystery I wanted to see the kid play and I wanted a much better return if all the talk was true. At least we got somebody we wanted. Bad trade as far as value none the less.

Not that it means so much, but almost every commenter on tsn seems to think we fleeced Minnesota.

McAdam seems like a project. Nice size and going to Penn State. He was ranked 3rd North American goalie by ISS.

Cammaratta (sp) is a smallish center who does nothing but score. Scouts say his size is what kept him out of the 1st round. Martin St.Louis ring a bell? Hopefully...

Seems like Isles scouts only scouted one team for later picks... Last 3 picks were all on same team together. 2 of them are goalies

Can we package them all for an actual NHL goalie?
