Cause now they have some value. KO has been on the radar of many teams in the years past but after the injury that died. Hey they looked great towards the end of the season and playoffs, but just not convinced yet they can keep it up all year. What would we all do if they get off to real slow starts and then the Islanders miss the playoffs? I am sure we will grill them and GArth for not trading them when he has the chance - kasperrko
I'm really starting to think you just want to trade for the sake of trading? I was one of okposos biggest critics but the kid was an absolute beast in the playoffs. Why the hell would you want to trade him? Same can be said for Bailey. They have some value so trade them no matter how minimal the return? What do you expect to get for them? Wtf sense does that make? Why don't we trade hamonic too just on case he has an off year and his value decreases? Makes zero sense. |

Yeah when it's a consistent thing that is something to worry about which we all know. Yeah, all players get hurt but to what degree are you talking about? Injuries that remove a player from game action are worrisome and with good reason. Not saying this is the case with him but we don't need another DeHaan. Some players are injury prone, why do I have to explain this? |

I am not just for making a trade but they have not shown much since the start here in the NHL. I am not going to say they are the tops right now after one good month. With the young guns coming through the system people are going to have to leave to give these other guys a chance. If you can trade one of them and get a big piece of the puzzle here you do it |

So you really think trading Okposo or Bailey is going to get us a big piece of the puzzle? They played awesome for two months and both took it to another level come playoff time. The only forwards MAYBE ready coming into camp are Strome and Nelson and who even knows if they'll be ready? We are all just assuming they will be. Like a lot of people ASSUMED Nino wasn't going anywhere and all the rumors of him being unhappy were overblown. All of these things are assumptions which people get confused with facts or reality. There is plenty of room for both. Last I checked we don't have a winger for Tavares, Acoin is a goner. You wouldn't get much for either of them and that's not to say they don't have value for this team. Arguably Okposo is the one that turned that series around against the Pens and made it interesting and you want to trade him? Bailey got promoted to the first line and played great. I just don't get why you'd want to trade them? If they play like crap the first couple months and come out slow again you dump them. You're not going to get much more for them now anyway and if you think so you're fooling yourself. |

Oh yeah. Saw that one. If he wants to get traded because his parents are getting separated I'll drive him to the airport. |

I did not mean just them alone. If you can make a package then so be it. I mean like you said they had one great month last year, so lets twist this around why do you want to keep them?? |

I didn't say "one good month" I said two in a shortened season and an excellent playoffs which one of the players was arguably the best we had in the PO's. As far as why do I want to keep them around I think my post pretty much explained that to a tee did it not? Not to be rude but did you read my post? You want to trade them because they are slow starters and only play well when it doesn't count I'm guessing, right? We saw something different last year didn't we? They excelled when it mattered, both scored clutch goals. Okposo had a fight which got this team moving in the PO's. Now you want to trade them because you're worried they are going to suck till March? You're assuming this. You really have no interest in keeping these two when they showed us what they did last year? |

Flyers and Tim Thomas almost sounds workable. Both have bizarre histories @ the position. Isles control his fate for the moment.

I hope they turn out to be everything that you want I guess we shall see. I guess I just see the other side of them. I hope they have a great season but if they end up bombing again, no words from you |

The Islanders have always maintained they weren't going to toll Tim Thomas' contract and there's nothing to suggest anything has changed.

Well we both know I'll be putting my two cents in if they are crapping the bed and Cappy is giving them 20 minutes a night. Believe me I was there too when Okposo was mailing it in. As far as Bailey is concerned I have no idea where you guys get this hate for the kid. He's a player that you can see is getting better in a two way role and he's got incredible talent/hands.
Is it possible they suck it up next season? Of course it is but to me it'd be stupid to trade them for a crappy return(which is what they'd fetch)when we saw what we did last year. |

from Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice,
The Devils have already locked up forward Dainius Zubrus for three more years at $3.1 million per, which I reported first last Wednesday and he confirmed this morning. I’m hearing a deal that will bring Patrik Elias back for more than one season is basically done. There might be some final details to be ironed out, but that’s it.
Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello stopped just short this afternoon of saying that Elias’ deal is done.
“Patrik, I think it’s very close,” Lamoriello said of re-signing the Devils’ all-time leading scorer. “I think we’ll have that worked out.”
The news doesn’t sound as positive with potential UFA right wing David Clarkson and it appears he will be testing the market and seeing what other teams are willing to pay him.
Of re-signing Clarkson, Lamoriello said today, “David, I don’t know at this point. We’ll certainly talk and I’ll leave it at that.” |
