Dunno if this has been posted, but Canes beat writer just tweeted Carolina offered McBain and 5 for Sekera and 8
- CaptPantalones

if it is true, darcy was determined to get either nurse or risto with the first pick

70 points in the OHL. Which I think he can. He is 2-3 years away

So we have the 69th pick. So 6 picks in the top 70 is a pretty good way to stock the prospect cupboard.

You can do the same for Reggie, he's had some pretty horrific game's too. The difference is Reggie hit is peak. McBain will get better and I believe he will under Rolston.

Yep. 8 points this season and barely hits. Great pickup

Depth defenseman
Getting him most likely means we don't re-sign Sulzer or Pardy

Chicago is making trades. First Bolland now Frolik. Wonder what Bickell is gonna cost them. Frolik to the Jets

If that's true I might have taken that to get Monahan
- Stripes77

It would've been Lindholm
And there's no way that was true

Is this the same Rolston who I saw playing Gerbe...Flynn...Porter etc late in close games this season. Sorry I have zero confidence in Rolston...a darcy clone imo.
But yes you are right...you could point out similar weaknesses in Sekera's game...but Sekera also showed flashes of top dman abilities...unfortunately it typically showed only in his contract year.

Carolina beat reporter saying Sekera could have gotten us the 5th

Where are all these people who wanted to give up Vanek to move up 3 spots. Seriously people overvalue draft spots like crazy. Darcy made the right moves today. At least he did IMO. I'm actually a little imprerssed

Wouldn't the right move been accepting that trade?

Or in international tourneys...

Everyone is missing the point of this trade though
We got a kid that should've been picked around #20
Basically got a 1st rounder for Sekera
Darcy did it again,
GREAT TRADE

Not if they intended to draft Ristolainen all along. Supposedly, they already said they think he can play right away, so he could have been "their guy" all along.

I think Ristolainen was likely the number 2 guy on his list.

I think 1 of Monahan/Lindholm was #1, and I suspect Carolina wanted more then just Sekera to make this deal and Regier decided there wasnt enough of a difference between the 2 players to make it

We cleared up cap space. Replaced a veteran d with a d that had solid NHL experience. Just making room for our young guys. It's a rebuild its not gonna be flashy moves for at least a year

conner hurley a waste of a pick
- toddkac

Born one day later and he is probably a 1st round pick next year. Lets see if its a waste in 4 or 5 years when the kid is 22.

I thought u didn't want to talk to me anymore

And of course, no one KNOWS,
But obviously that's my OPINION

And the two Dmen we picked are freaking GREAT picks
ESP since we got Bailey & Compher in the 2nd
Also very good picks

I'm not psyched about that high school kid though
I would've liked Santini

I know so many people dont like the picks, but Im very happy with them. This really could turn out like the Preds draf in 03 where they went Suter and Weber
- CaptPantalones

I don't know if i like the 8th pick but at the same time i can't say i hate it. I would have like to of drafted Nichuskin with the 8th pick but i understand why they did not draft him. But i do love the 16th pick and the 52nd pick.

NOW PLEASE TRADE DREW STAFFORD

I like Stafford but i feel that i can put that 4m cap to better use like resigning Vanek or signing Horton.

No. I would have loved Lindholm but we got Compher, Ristolainen and McBain by not making that deal. I can live with that
