I've been here since about page 20. You're assuming that because I didn't say anything that I wasn't reading. That's a piss poor conclusion to draw up. It's not hard catching up on 20 pages. - buffalofan19
You're assuming I care, that's your first mistake. |

I can understand 89's frustration with Darcy.
Clutterbuck starts off he day going to The Isles. Why not the Sabres?
You see your arch rival pick a player like Bolland. Why not the Sabres?
I like the 2 D they selected in the 1st (and like the Bailey selection).
But our GM will never make that bold move (ex - NJ Lou grab's their goalie of the future).
What is he asking for for these guys:
Stafford
Miller
Vanek?

If Darcy uses Vanek to add to our top 6, - RayHatesDomi
Vanek is in our top 6.
Our top 1 really.
But let's trade away a scoring winger that plays injured over 50% off the season after serving as an oak tree for opposing goalies and defensemen.
I'd like to keep one of the better scoring wingers in the league that we developed thank you very much. |

You know something, whether I agree with what the Sabres are doing or not doing doesn't make me right or wrong, just like if people agree with me or don't agree with me doesn't make them right or wrong. Matter of opinion and my opinions sometimes don't mesh with others, once again not it's a not a right or wrong thing. |

Agreed on Bolland. Would have loved to see him here as I said yesterday
But with Ott, Kaleta and Foligno, there isnt much need for Clutterbuck |

Clutterbuck: not a difference maker
Bolland: not a difference maker on a rebuilding team, and has only one year left on his contract. The only way he stays long term is if the Sabres overpay him.
Schneider: not worth the first round pick if you're rebuilding.
I am as firmly on the "Darcy Regier needs to get out of here" train as anyone, but I don't find myself really upset that Regier didn't make any of those moves. There's a longer list of prior year offenses that come way before anything that happened today. |

Here is why I dont like the draft.
To me to win the cup you need elite forwards. Look at Chicago Toews Kane,Sharp Hossa Bickell Boston Kreji Marchand Lucic Bergeron. Guys killing themselves to win a cup. To me our only elite forward is vanek and he in my opinion will be traded.
This draft was compared to 2003 draft by many experts not me. There are multiple cup winners and many dif. making forwards that came from that draft.
We chose 2 def. who might be good but got us nowhere closer to getting the elite forwards to win a cup. If Vanek is traded our most established scorer is Drew Stafford. Nathan Gerby is a top 6 forward. I want to win the cup so I no I am a negative Nelly who knows nothing about hockey. So i am sorry. - hafgod
Hodgson, Ennis, Grigorenko, Girgensons, Armia...
All 1st round picks
All very young and getting better
Plus, we are going to draft very high the next two seasons
Chicago also has Seabrook & Keith
Boston has Chara
Before today, we really didn't have any physical "shutdown" defensemen that could play big minutes
Now we have two!
And that's also very necessary for most cup winning teams |

IMO, Boston didn't win their cup because of their forwards, they won it because of their defence and Chicago has one of the best defenses in the league but i get what your saying. |

Too many variables go into trading. Why trade for Clutterbuck with Tropp, girgensons, larrson waiting in the wings. Same with Bolland. Bolland, Clutterbuck are great 3rd line guys, but 3rd line isn't our problem. |

Fair enough. You list a wide range of forwards you consider "elite."
One might objectively argue that Toews, Kane, and Bergeron are the only elite forwards in that group. Nonetheless, all of them are talented and bring a different element to their respective lineups.
I have no problem w/ your assumption that good forwards are the way to build a team, but after watching our D this year leave Miller out to dry on a nightly basis, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever w/ Darcy trying to shore up the back-end. One might argue it was Chara, Seabrook and Keith who were just as important to their team's respective success down the run too. When the cupboard is bare on both ends, I guess it doesn;t matter where one starts to restock from. |

Good size but the inclusion of Gauthier-Leduc needs to stop. He is not a NHL defensemen. Pardy won't be here. I wouldn't mind Sulzer being back here though. The first round was the fix the blue line. Next two years get scoring and lots of it
