I agree with you on missing out on Ristolainen......that was the key here and I think DARCY has a Center coming in for this year.......that we don't know about.....Briere or LeCavier?? Or Statsny from Colorado? I really think Darcy has a trade ready to bring in a center......we shall see

I mentioned earlier that I wouldn't be surprised at a move w/ COL to get a center. They have WAAAAY too many NHL level centers at this point in MacKinnon, Duchene, O'Rielly, Stastny, and John Mitchell. They need D as well, and we sure as hell have it.

Now that it has sunk in, we really improved our defense significantly from last year. Optimistically thinking, WEBER will be better or as good, MYERS will be BETTER(how could he be worse) I really do see him rebounding just too much talent there, McBain again rebound of this off year and we have THREE top 6 defensemen plus I really liked Rowhedal and Errhoff is a BEAST!

If that's the case and we can get one of those, we might be better than most think this year and add that we are younger and hungrier, minus the negative nelly Miller and his soft goals every other game.....we might be on to something here. I truly believe that people are going to be disappointed if they are hoping we tank, I don't see it happening if MYERS returns to 85% of what he showed.

I don't necessarily
Grigorenko
Hodgson
Larsson
Could be the top3 centers of the future for us
Letting Girgensons & Ennis play on the wing

If do trade for a center,
It stands to reason it'd be a good two-way guy, bc right now neither Grigorenko or Hodgson are
Or he's planning on moving one of them

Do you think Grigerenko will play with us for the full year?

Its refreshing to have some intelligent discussions on the players we choose and why.....rather than that dribble from earlier....pathetic

I don't know how we STOLE Larsson.....where would he have been picked if he was in this draft today?

I'd say early 2nd, but there's no real way to compare.

I definitely hope so. He needs NHL time as a #2-#1 center.

Assuming Miller get traded, it's going to be a step back in the quality of goaltending
And with Vanek also most likely going, I'd expect us to score less goals
Pominville's production also gone

1st round for sure
He should end up being a perfect #3 center
Good two-way guy, plays tough, decent scorer
We got a great return for Pominville IMO,
Especially if Hackett becomes a #1 goalie

Wasn't on here at all since draft started. Way too busy. How'd everyones hopes and dreams pan out?

Knew Vanek and miller would stay. Very surprised/upset no Nichushkin and he went to Lindy but hey build from the net out I guess.

Hodgson, Grigorenko, Girgensons, Ennis, Larrson, Catenacci all disagree with you.
- Herzeleid

Sorry to me Lindholm trumps all of them, except for me only Hodgson, only because Hodgson has shown something at the moment, the rest are still to show anything.

Even if he doesn't become a number 1, we still got Zadorov and another 2nd to go with Larsson.

Pominville for Zadorov + Larsson + Hackett + 2014 2nd

Disappointment in the 1st round got made up for a bit with the fantastic 2nd round. Still pissed Darcy rejected the deal involving the 5th.

Do we have a "need" at center?
Grigorenko, Hodgson, Ennis, Larsson, Girgensons, Catenacci, Kea, Nelson, Schaller...
I actually think we're pretty good there

They must have wanted Ristolainen all along & didn't think they'd be able to trade up from 16 to get him

I really would've like Lindholm
But it would've sucked to miss out on Ristolainen
Sure, we still could've gotten Zadorov, but I like Ristolainen better, so it would've sucked to miss out on him

- jdfitz77

I know what you're saying and I get it but we essentially just DID exactly that but with D, I would take Lindholm or Monahan over any of the other center's mentioned above, there is no guarantee with any of these except for Hodgson but only because he has shown something, we know Grigo struggled last year, but not blaming him at all was a tough season/situation. Anyway, I guess it will all play out eventually.

I hate when people say that about our good prospects and then mention some other prospect "we need" that hasn't either.

Oh and Grigs > Hodgson and Lindholm. This all doesn't change that we don't have a need for Centers. Now wingers on the other hand..........

Rutherford offered it, and brought it up in interview(s). Darcy was asked about it in the latest interview at the Sabres site. It involved Sekera, the 8th, the 5th, and possibly McBain as well. There were 2 supposed ones: Sekera and 8 for 5, and Sekera and 8 for McBain and 5. Which one was correct, I don't know. In any event, they should've been accepted by Darcy.

The argument goes around both ways, why even bother to draft anyone in this draft then at all hey ? BEcause we have all the prospects we need right we just have to wait for them to come along ? Just because we drafted someone how many years ago doesn't mean they can't be surplanted by a better prospect, pretty sure some of are current D prospects are now feeling a bit that way.

I like Lindholm a lot too
But to be fair, he hasn't shown anything yet either
Ideally, we could've gotten Him and Ristolainen, but it seems like the Sabres had to choose...
And to them, a "shutdown" defenseman was more important
At the time, we had good center prospects...
We didn't have any shutdown defense prospects
There was no way for them to know Zadorov would also fall to 16
I can't blame them for their thought process there

So we got an extra 2nd instead of moving up and taking a center? I heard of the Sekera and 8 for 5 but was told JR wanted something more or little different. Odd. Lindholm and Monahan will most likely be studs. Guess I am more upset not haha. No nish and now this..man. I want some of whatever Pegula is smoking keeping this loser around

Yep, great trade
And the Sekera trade was great too
Compher should've been a 1st round pick
And McBain is a decent depth defenseman
