Oh, I guess yesterday was better than I thought. Jeremy White just said we got Jamie Benn from Carolina for Sekera. Not sure how the Canes got him. - Pierceme69
He must be playing NHL 13's Be a GM mode again. |

I'm really looking forward to Friday. But not because I think we are going to load up on talent. Yesterday proved that the youth movement is here. They are not building a team for this season or next. They are looking at 3-5 years down the road.
So why am I looking forward to Friday? I'm looking forward to people losing their minds when other teams grab UFAs. Why didn't we get that guy?
I'm looking forward to people losing their minds when Darcy signs a few plugs to 1-2 year deals to round out the roster. |

Speaking of Jamie Benn, I would think that a line of Loui Eriksson, Benn, and Nichushkin will be beast. - Pierceme69
Could be. I have a bit of experience watching their new head coach, so I'm not so sure.
There's a good chance they will be coached to play defense first. They might be forced to play the coaches system instead of making the best of their abilities. Also, that coach doesn't have a great history of developing young Russians. He most likely wouldn't be trusted with the responsibility of playing on that line. If he were, it wouldn't last. He would be relegated to the 4th line, then the press box. |

Maybe, but Nill isn't Darcy. |

Nichushkin could score a hat-trick and still get benched for turning the puck over and getting scored on. |

I really think Dallas is a good fit for Lindy. He has experience coaching a team on a budget. I give him a lot of credit for carrying on through the lean years here. |

my problem with yesterday is all off season we have been told that we have to lose to get "elite " talent at the top of the draft and then Darcy rejects a trade that would have gotten us to #5 pick
it's the smoke and mirrors double talk that Darcy has become known for
say one thing, do another , keep people around him confused
my judgement is probably clouded by my hatred for what Darcy has done to this organization in his tenure |

i also think his vision matches up with Nils and it seems the better teams the coach and Gm are usually on the same page |

Don't most, if not, all GMs do that? My guess is they had 2 players locked in at #8, Lindholm or Ristolainen. They got their guy without having to trade up, not only that, got a roster bottom 3 D and a 2nd round pick for Sekera.

Just about every non-buffalo fan has Buffalo as the best team at the draft. Its always our own fans that hate the organization more than anyone else.
Here's a discussion on who won and lost at the draft: http://hfboards.hockeysfu.../showthread.php?t=1458559
Check and see if there's a trend of what people think about Buffalo. It might be a nice surprise. |

I don't think so. If the plan was to go defense, we would have taken the same guy at 5 that we got at 8. Instead they got a guy who could immediately take Sekera's minutes in McBain plus a pick that turned into a pretty intriguing prospect. - keptupl8
I still would have rather drafted #5 and taken Lindholm. |

He chose getting 4 players instead of two. Whatever. Darcy has marginal decsion making capabilities when it comes to the draft so don't assume it would have been elite talent he would have chosen.
I definately don't assume these "big tough D" will amount to anything. - RynoBull
"big tough D" like Keith and Seabrook never amounted to anything either, am I right? |

I don't think most people who are unhappy think we drafted bad players. The point is when your best RW is Drew Stafford and you have the chance to draft a 6'4" 210 lb. locomotive RW and you take a safe defensive player instead it tends to rub people the wrong way. |

no most GM's are pretty clear about the direction the team is taking, and if they are continuely changing the teams direction they aren't usually employed very long
again Darcy saiid for 3 weeks he wanted to move up in this draft and when the opportunity was there to move up he didn't |
