"big tough D" like Keith and Seabrook never amounted to anything either, am I right?
- awildmudkip

We drafted Keith and Seabrook?

No. Darcy drafted two 1st round guys. Odds are that one or both won't amount to anything significant.

I don't think most people who are unhappy think we drafted bad players. The point is when your best RW is Drew Stafford and you have the chance to draft a 6'4" 210 lb. locomotive RW and you take a safe defensive player instead it tends to rub people the wrong way.

If I were Vanek or Miller I would be looking to run away from this team as fast as I could.

Anyone else would have liked Frolik for a 3rd and a 5th?

no most GM's are pretty clear about the direction the team is taking, and if they are continuely changing the teams direction they aren't usually employed very long

again Darcy saiid for 3 weeks he wanted to move up in this draft and when the opportunity was there to move up he didn't

- billyk

I'm failing to see where Darcy isn't clear about where he wants his team to go. He's been drafting big, smart, and tough to play against players with leadership qualities as of late.

Ottawa wanted to move up for weeks. So did Boston. So I don't see your point? Why trade up 3 spots when the guy you like is already where you wanted? Why not get an extra pick in the process?

Oh, you're right. Neither will MacKinnon. Or Barkov. Neither will Seth Jones. They're all bad, too.

If we don't improve our forward ranks considerably in free agency, will you then concede that we should have drafted a forward in the 1st round?

Holy poop! We drafted them too?

I didn't say any 1st round pick wont amount to anything. I said the players Darcy Picked probably won't amount to anything. If history is any indication, any first round draft pick of DR's will not amountto anything significant. Maybe a roll player

You mean "concede and admit that we should have drafted a forward in the 1st round", right?

But not really. If we got Nich, I would have been happy. But I'm happy with Ristolainen. Like I said, Buffalo has never got that Elite Defenceman. Draft one of those, offense will come.

why do people think not having forwards NOW equals drafting forwards that wont play for three years???

Nichushkin would have been 2nd line RW at worst on this team that has 1/2 AHL talent on it.

Dallas is moving Niskenen to USA immediately and feels he will play in the NHL next season, but that Jim Nil , he doesn't know anything, right?

Because every 18 year old can come into this league, score 50+ goals, and win cups with ease.

Didn't you know?

Just about every non-buffalo fan has Buffalo as the best team at the draft. Its always our own fans that hate the organization more than anyone else.

Here's a discussion on who won and lost at the draft: http://hfboards.hockeysfu.../showthread.php?t=1458559

Check and see if there's a trend of what people think about Buffalo. It might be a nice surprise.

- jc-13

Whatever makes you feel better. The top four teams alone drafted better with one guy because they now have elite difference makers on their team. Colorado and Tampa can roll some sick lines full of talent and Nashville will have a legit pairing again.

Meanwhile Buffalo has their AHL calibur forward group, defense that MIGHT be good by the time we elect the next President, and two of our stars don't even want to be here anymore.

Can't wait to hear about a Darcy extension soon.

He threatened to play to the KHL if he didn't get the "play in the NHL free" card.

You really want a player to dictate how things are ran? Sends a poor message to the team mates. Just my opinion, though.

Believe it or not, so can Stafford. Or Tropp, given he's on the 2nd line all year.

That point plus we drafted 2 forwards last year. I didnt hear anyone complaining about how we didnt take anyone on defense last draft. Defense isnt the sexy pick so fans dont get excited about it.

I think it was a very nice draft by Darcy (hes still gotta go, but besides that point). Got 2 hulking dmen and some big forwards in the second round.

I can already see..

Foligno // Girgensons // Bailey
Compher // Larsson // Tropp

Mix and match, of course, but those are all solid competitors.

i respect that opinion, however if any GM has a handle on Russian players and how long they will take to develop into NHL caliber players, Jim Nil is it

if he thinks Niskenen is NHL ready I believe it
