Again, 38 yrs and counting. What do you see the Flyers doing right to win a cup. You need skill, not just being huge and tough. Pulock shows great open ice hits. PP quarterback. Cannon shot, and he is the captain of his team. - bushhunter
Nothing. You're right. That pick at 11 is going to keep the Flyers from ever winning the Cup. At pick 15 in 2013 the New York Islanders have cemented a run of Stanley Cups a mile long.
I've given up all hope. They should just fold this team before Morin doesn't develop and drags the Flyers back to the worst record in the NHL so they can lose the draft lottery to one of the other also-rans eating Islander dust. Good, now I can forget all about the Flyers and troll the web as a miserable, butt-hurt, absurdity whining ninny. |

For some reason I think this kid has IT. He has a skill set of what we need. I would like them to wait a year and try and trade for him. - bushhunter
We should trade Morin for him |

Morin is actually a very good puck mover with a good slap shot. But sure, I guess you don't actually need to know anything about a prospect to assume he's bad. Plus, Hagg doesn't even need to reach his full potential to be a solid PP quarterback, PK specialist, and ES guy. But ya, I get it. This has obviously been the worst draft the Flyers have ever had and we as an organization are with a doubt doomed solely because of Homer. |

I think the most important thing is that the Flyers had a better draft than the Pens, Rags and Devils - PhillySportsGuy
Devils win. Get their new young franchise goalie and draft Steve Santini.
Islanders win. Ryan Pulock and add Clutterbuck while dumping Nino's 2.8m cap tragedy.
Pens win. Draft a solid goalie prospect Tristan Jarry to replace Flower and took a pair of defensemen in later rounds
Rags lose. Didnt pick til 65th. but they are already stacked so not a huge deal. |

i think Pullock will be good. seems like a fired up leader type. and i also think, like you said, he'll have an impact with the isles sooner than Morin will with the Flyers.
I just believe Morin is just scratching the surface of his potential and im glad they picked him. |

I'm not a huge lecavalier fan. I feel like they can do better with the amount it will cost to get him. #2 center over the next 4 years isn't really a major need for this team |

Flyers don't always draft the same kinds of players. Giroux, Carter, gagne, Sbisa, Justin Williams are all known more as skilled players than gritty ones - PhillySportsGuy
They are all offensive except Sbisa and he hasn't lit the world on fire.
Rumor was, the Flyers wanted K. Shttenkirk, well Pulock looks like the same player tome, only bigger. Why not draft him??? |

If you're looking for defense they took Richards, Laughton and Coots. Not to mention Williams, gagne, carter and giroux are all pretty good two way forwards. |

Horvat went high because of Vancouver's need for a 2 way center. It was a desperation pick, and they got robbed of Schneider IMO. - youarewrong

Devils also extended Zubrus, so good for them. Still, is Schneider going to a better team in the Devils than he was on in Vancouver?
Clutterbuck is a good grit player, but I'm not sure he's going to push the Isles into a top 4 in the East ranking.
Unless Jarry plays this upcoming season, which he won't, the Pens are stuck with Flower for a while longer unless they make some trades.
It will be interesting to see what the Rangers become w/out Torts. |

were you drafted by the nba? - Don'tForgetTocchet
Valid point that my analogy may have been flawed. However it does not change the fact that certain skillsets do not just magically appear out of thin air based on hard work. Genetics has a considerable amount to do with it, and you can't teach it or work harder on it. |

From mid term until draft day all of those defensive prospects moved around like spilled marbles on a trampoline. It's all just opinion. It doesn't matter where he was ranked. All that mattered was the Flyers had him at 11 as the BPA and they took him. They held the pick so they had the only opinion that counted. - mayorofangrytown
I feel like some people are just playing "defender". "Flyers know best." Guess what... Sometimes they don't, and yesterdays draft was frustrating. Even Bill seems like he is holding back. The whole "dont want to judge until.." To me that is, I dont like it now, but only time will tell.... |

Yeah, drafting a defenseman that is 3-5 years away from making an impact to fill an immediate need makes a lot of sense... |
