Good points.
Devils got their goalie. Although they may be kicking themselves after passing on a chance to draft Nichushkin and Horvat. Time will tell.
Shedding Nino's 2.8 mill salary and a player who obviously wasnt happy on the Isle while adding Clutterbuck who hits, blocks shots, and has some offensive upside and played with Tavares is a big plus. They will sign him to a reasonable contract which will most likely be around half of Nino's cap hit. - MrBigglesworth
Agreed. I respect Clutterbuck, would take him on the Flyers in a heartbeat, and am going to hate seeing him on the ice when we play the Isles.
The teams I'm watching our for in the next few seasons are Columbus, Buffalo and Montreal. |

It's funny, the one thing that's not really up for debate is that the Flyers are without parallel when it comes to consistently making the right calls in the 1st-round. - Tomahawk
Especially over the last decade. Every first rounder has become a regular NHL over that stretch, including several star level players. |

Another center? Why didn't they take Maatta? This guy sucks!! - Jsaquella
Kind of wish people would learn to look beyond consensus rankings, immediate need and silly comparables when they talk about prospects. |

Nobody knows how these kids are going to develop. But most of us put more faith in the Flyers scouts who actually watch these kids play year after year as opposed to people who poster on this or any other message board. - wolfhounds
... who base our opinions on what other people who watch these kids play year after year have to say about them. |

You can't project Pulock as Shattenkirk. Shattenkirk is not only a point producer but a top pairing dman. He matches up against the best forwards. Pulock is very far from being anywhere near Shattenkirk - PhillySportsGuy
He's far from being Shattenkirk at age 24 but has similarities to Shattenkirk at age 18. Actually, a better comparison player in terms of how I see Pulock in the long range is Dan Boyle.

we need to sign another goalie - MrBigglesworth
they'll get one. they'll either go aging vet or potential starter to challenge mason. who knows?
gotta' admit i'm a bit steamed about the bob/bryz situation. and i don't want to hear "bob would never have turned into what he did in Columbus if he stayed here", which many have said. we'll have no idea. i don't think he's made massive adjustments to his game. small ones. that come with time and experience. no patience. he was a gift considering he went undrafted. i just hope mason gets his game back. he's big. quick. handles the puck well. i'm intrigued by his right catching hand, as i do think it poses a little bit of a wrinkle for shooters, because so few guys catch with that hand. |

Another center? Why didn't they take Maatta? This guy sucks!! - Jsaquella
Maatta's stock fell considerably at last years draft... and he didnt exactly have a stellar Memorial Cup.
I dont think anyone was saying that about Laughton... he was still projected to go first round.
The Filip Forsberg trade is still the biggest surprise to me. |

Some people don't think Forsberg is going to be very good. That's what they were talking about on NHL network right after he was traded. |

Every two way forward is projected as Mike Richards. The Flyers have Mike Richards II (Schenn), Mike Richards III (Coots) and Mike Richards IV (Laughton). |

Kind of wish people would learn to look beyond consensus rankings, immediate need and silly comparables when they talk about prospects. - Tomahawk
Consensus rankings are well and good, but every team has it's own internal board and rates players different. I won't lie, I preferred Pulock and Zadorov, but I like Morin as well.
Just the overall negativity is tiresome. |
|
|
|
Jesus, could you imagine all the moronic negativity if the Flyers actually sucked, rather than being one of the more successful teams in the NHL over the past decade.
Yes, being reasonable and optimistic is obviously drinking Kool-Aid or being a spin doctor...so what is being a negative clown who constantly bashes the team for everything?
Oh, yeah. Tiresome and pointless. - Jsaquella
it's fascinating for a minute and then it becomes unbearable |
