Re-signing Giroux and Read alone is going to cost 10M or more. - MJL
I mean in addition to their current cap. Sorry if that was hard to understand. Giroux will go up by $4-$5 mil. Read will go up $3-4 mil. |

My aunt, not my mother. My mother thinks she's Ethel Merman |

Speaking of the Cap. I crunched the numbers on the Flyers off season Cap picture. With the buyouts, and assuming that Manning, Wellwood, and Luridsen received 2 way Q offers, and Gustafsson receiving a 1 way Q offer. Here it is
One way players $51,528,929
Two way players $2,918,965
Gus Q offer $850,500
Bartulis buyout $100,000
Bonus overage $182,927
Total: $55,581,321
Off Season Cap: $70,343,000
minus above gives the Flyers $14,761,679 of Off Season Cap space to play with. Please don't confuse this with Cap space for the Season. It will be less.
Although they can gain more by placing Pronger on LTIR once the Season starts. And by trading a defenseman such as Meszaros. So the Flyers have the money to sign a player such as Lecavalier. |

Probably mentioned earlier, Bob 2years @ $11.25 million. That is some pretty nice coin. |

I bet he doesn't think so, he could've doubled that number in the KHL |

Unusual for an NHL team to loan a roster player to another league. You just wonder how much a team like Nashville will be able to spend in the upcoming years with their market and the lack of additional revenue sharing. Not to mention the contract of the d-man whose name shall remain silent. |

The NHLPA might be filing a grievance on that one.

It's not really Cap circumvention. Nashville will still be responsible for the Cap hit. The problem as I see it is that 3M will be counted towards the players share, with no actual money going to a player. The NHLPA isn't going to like that.

We can do this sort of thing all day, but one easy one to look at is the case of Philip McRae, a second-round pick of the St. Louis Blues, 33rd overall, in 2008.
I was watching that draft, and boy, was TSN marveling at that pick. McRae is Basil McRae's kid, and he's got NHL bloodlines, and he knows all about nutrition and fitness and commitment. He's got far more skill that his father ever had, and an NHL body, and wow, that kid could easily have gone in the first round.
Five years later, Philip McRae has played 15 games in the NHL, scoring 1 goal and three points.
That's 83 fewer games than 2008 sixth-round pick Zac Rinaldo, who received a two-year contract extension a couple of months ago.
All the chatter, all the rankings and speculation and mock drafts...it's just noise. It should be fun to talk about, fun to dream and speculate about what these kids might do.
Instead, it's turned into this funeral dirge of what these kids can't do and won't ever do.
How does that makes sense to anyone? - AllInForFlyers
Solid stuff here. We are fans though. Why would we be here if there's no arguing, some female doging, arm chair gming, so on and so on.
It was much better times in here when all we had to worry about was zherdev scurrying away from practice in a limo with a pink shirt.
Things will more than likely get better

Well it's not like he is playing in the KHL for free. He is gonna get paid. Just not by the NHL. |

That's irrelevant to the NHLPA. An NHL team is not paying him. In the end, that skews the 50/50.

Exactly. He's no getting paid by the NHL, but the NHL wants to count that $3mm as part of the players' share of revenue that determines how high the escrow will be as well as the cap going forward |
