well with coburn and mesz gone i think we would

about 4mm cap hit for dupuis, about 5 for lacavalier, about 4 for scuderi and 3 for TT and i think we're on the good side of 64.3

- flyerscup2011

mez is untradeable though and I really dont want Dupuis but otherwise sign me up

If Thomas regained his form, he'd be the unquestioned number one goalie. He had several Vezina worthy seasons over a 5 or 6 year stretch. A guy like that is an excellent insurance policy
- Jsaquella

i'd be fine with thomas if he understands his mistakes and vows not to repeat them. this is about an ins policy if mason flops. given that he had 4 bad yrs in a row, i'd want that fallback.

I think on a risk/reward scale, Timmy is probably the highest risk and the highest reward of all of our goalie options.
- JAKEw1234

Agree. Which is why he will be a flyer by Friday. So how much will he get is the big question?

Absolutely, make it clear that if he decides to make statements on facebook or any other platform, that he will have to answer for them, and not leave it sitting there for everyone else to deal with.

I don't agree with his politics, but that's not the issue. The issue is the way he left it out there for others to deal with. That's where the friction came from, not his political views.

Paajarvi has been vastly more productive than Lander.

Hell, Lander hasn't even been an exceptional scorer at the AHL level.

They were linemates in Sweden.... Pääjärvi was always the better (and more hyped) of the two players. Similar to Silfverberg (now with Ottawa) and Järnkrok (Detroit prospect).

Might be more difficult for Thomas to come back from a year off than Hasek.

Hasek was about 30-lbs lighter and his game was predicated on flexibility, whereas Thomas relies much more on explosiveness and leg-strength. Unless he's been secretly doing on-ice workouts over the past year, it might take him at least a few months to get back into shape and in a groove.

He definitely would need to show up and make an effort more often. Ton of ability, but doesn't seem to always want it.

That's the wildcard with Thomas. But knowing his on ice persona, he's a battler and a hard worker. He doesn't seem to be the kind of guy that would half ass anything because he hates to lose.

Probably, because if he's not in a scoring line role, he's kind of useless. I just don't think they were after Anton Lander instead of him.

Timmy = the NHL version of Favre.

I dont see the reason to try and come back. Esp as a goalie you think that being out for a year would create alot of rust. Not to mention someone who has a unorthodox style.

I personally say stay away and go with Mason
