So am I reading capgeek right?
We have about $9M to spend on goalie / FA?
That's with Pronger on LTIR, with Streit, and without the 10M overage we would get in the summer only before the season starts.
We also need to extend offers to Gus, Lauri, and possibly Manning.
Sound about right?
I'd say we don't HAVE to move any of our D for cap space reasons. Although it's still a strong possibility. |

Not sure but he may have the reverse - a list of X number teams to whom he cannot be traded without his agreement. - bmeltzer
I recently read it was 8 but I can't remember where I read it to source. |

I guess I was surprised a bit that EDM and CAR are on his approved list.
Not really the glamor locations of the NHL. - Marc D
He is from Alberta (Calgary) so im sure he wouldn't mind going back to his hometown province and from what i hear while not "sexy" CAR is a pretty nice place to live. |

Bill,
I was wondering if you know anything about the Eric Wellwood situation. A) How he's progressing after that terrible injury and B) If the Flyers plan on offering him a contract or not because of the injury. |

GM Paul Holmgren doesn't believe that the Flyers jumped the gun by selecting Samuel Morin with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 draft."Samuel has come a long way in a short period of time," Holmgren said. "He's ultracompetitive. He skates well. He's got great range, obviously. Pretty good understanding of the game. And his puck skills have gotten so much better in not a long period of time. I think he's a very good prospect. He's got a chance to really blossom over the next year or two." The 6-foot-6 defenseman currently weighs 210 pounds but he would like to get to 230 or 240 before he turns pro. He was a fast riser up the charts of the 2013 draft and his physical nature could place him in good standing with the Flyers.

something that jumped out at me was he didn't put up many points during the season, but he was ppg in the playoffs |

I fully expect them to add a forward with size, maybe Lecavalier, maybe David Clarkson. |

I lived in S Carolina for 10+ years.
I liked it, my wife hated it.
It is a hockey backwater though.
Great golf, nice beaches, college football is #1.
Good "groceries" (food).

I personally am very excited about Hagg. He has the potential to be our total package defenseman who was a steal in the second round. He could be like our Duncan Keith, PK Subban, Shea Weber, or Kris Letang. |

Darnell Nurse on uncle Donovan McNabb: "He went higher than me, but I didn't get booed at my draft. So we're even."

You see the Flyers giving Vinny a long term deal? Shouldnt 3 years cut it? No clue why he needs 5 years at 5 Mil per when he is getting huge money from a buyout. Help the club you are going to by not strapping them for cap. |

But Donovan was never booed either. Eagles management was booed for passing on Ricky Williams. Donovan is just a crybaby. I can't stand hearing the guy talk anymore. |

Hopefully he can develop into a nice two way player. Very young kid, should take another two years of seasoning. |

wouldnt that be nice.
In all seriousness.. If Haag didnt have consistency issues, he would have went top 20. |

Keep in mind that the consistency issues were mainly when he was playing in the SHL (the Eliteleague was just renamed to Swedish Hockey League) against men. Difficult to compare with defencemen playing in CHL etc. He was only the second D in the draft that played in a mens league (at least for 27games last season). First one was Ristolainen. |

I hope we stay far away from Clarkson. He's going to command way more money than I think he's worth. If we are going to make a push for another big winger I'd much rather it be Clowe even after his down year.
But even more than that, I'd like for them to just look within and give McGinn a shot at keeping a spot on the roster. |

The scouting reports are all nice, also got good size 6'2'', 203 Lb's.
"A very all-round two-way defenseman. Hägg is capable of playing a pure defensive role, logging big minutes on the penalty kill, as well as contributing offensively and being valuable in power play situations. Furthermore, Hägg has good size and strength, very good vision, a heavy release and is also a mobile defenseman. Some consistency issues, although Hägg usually makes smarter plays while playing in the big league, rather than in the juniors. Lots of potential (EP, 2013)"
Hopefully he develops nicely and is stud with this team.
