Bill,
I'll be OK with it since they got Hagg. But watching this for months and the mocks and the video's, I know in the end they were still the same old Flyers going for the nasty player over skill. I would have still taken only R. Ristolein or R. Pulock due to toughness, leadership abilities and offensive skill with quarterbacking the PP abilities. This kid is a PROJECT and can't help us out soon. Pulock would have been perfect. One yr. at AHL, Kimmo retireS and Ryan steps into his shoes. What was so hard about that. Getting Pulock and Hagg would have been stellar. Remember due to the Flyers and their ways, it's still 38 YRS AND COUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - bushhunter
Now that my friend, is a rant!
P.S. My dirty mind cant help but chuckle at your username. |

Even so, it doesn't excuse the pick IMO. I can't call it BPA. He was raked below Haag in some scouting reports. I can't call it picking by need, because there were better same position players.
I dont know what to call this. And BTW, I'm sure they could have moved down if they wanted to... maybe not moved up, but they could ahve moved down. - youarewrong
From mid term until draft day all of those defensive prospects moved around like spilled marbles on a trampoline. It's all just opinion. It doesn't matter where he was ranked. All that mattered was the Flyers had him at 11 as the BPA and they took him. They held the pick so they had the only opinion that counted. |

You think Gusty will accept their qualifying offer? - Marc D
He doesn't exactly have much of a choice... not much leverage for him... if he holds out or goes back to Sweden, that could be the end of his NHL career. On the other hand, if he accepts, and plays well, he's still in line for a future payday. |

yes he has a highlight reel shot. But to say he is going to be a better defenseman than jones....i dont know about that. - PhillaBully
I just think he has the best all-around game of any defenseman in the draft. They're born 3 days apart. Jones played on a STACKED Winterhawks team while Pulock played on the 3rd worst team in the WHL, and still managed to put up incredible numbers. They're both right handed. Very similar players, I just see Pulock panning out better. |

With Ristolainen, Zadorov, and Pulock all going to Eastern teams, we will get to see first hand just how good they develop. |

I dont know about pullock...My opinion is that morin is going to be better than pullock. - PhillaBully
After yesterday's events. It is quite clear that morin is the better prospect over zadorov or pulock.

He couldn't play in the AHL as I'm sure thirty people will now tell you.
Pulock could turn out to be just another hard shooting average defender who doesn't translate his game to the NHL. What makes you think he'll get here faster than Hagg or Morin? - mayorofangrytown
Again, 38 yrs and counting. What do you see the Flyers doing right to win a cup. You need skill, not just being huge and tough. Pulock shows great open ice hits. PP quarterback. Cannon shot, and he is the captain of his team. |

I think the most important thing is that the Flyers had a better draft than the Pens, Rags and Devils |

Well, the Devils did draft Cory Schneider 9th overall.

I think the Devils made out pretty well dealing for Schneider.
Weird situation in Vancouver. Luongo basically gets tossed aside, and now they are asking him to be their saviour once again. If its me, I'd want out. |

Flyers don't always draft the same kinds of players. Giroux, Carter, gagne, Sbisa, Justin Williams are all known more as skilled players than gritty ones |

I thought the Devils did well with Schneider.
Pens got a real good goalie prospect with Tristan Jarry. |

Giroux's had his chances and hasn't gotten us a Cup. Time to trade him and draft a player with REAL skill. |

Bill,
Also, after the Nishchenkin(spelling) went past Buffalo, my antennas went up. They should have traded with Dallas or NJ to get him. It had to be Dallas. He almost fell to us. I think they would have taken him over any Defensemen. How much would it have cost us to move one spot for Dallas to have given him to us??? He would have been great and we still would have gotten Hagg. - bushhunter
I don't think Dallas would have traded once Nich dropped to them... |

He's also smaller, slower, has less ceiling and actually regressed a bit this past year... he's not a bad prospect, but let's not pretend there weren't going to be tradeoffs if they had taken him. |

Horvat @9. - Tomahawk
Horvat went high because of Vancouver's need for a 2 way center. It was a desperation pick, and they got robbed of Schneider IMO. |

No! Since the Flyers haven't won a cup in 38 years, we must do everything the exact opposite of what we've been doing. |

For some reason I think this kid has IT. He has a skill set of what we need. I would like them to wait a year and try and trade for him. |
