For the exception of last year, he scores at a pace of 30 goals per year, if he stays healthy. I think he will excell more on the Flyers. - youarewrong
Why do you say that? |

At some point whether they sign Vinny or not they are going to have to make a decision on Schenn, Coots, Laughton....If Laughton is half as good as he is projected to be then he shouldnt be a 4th line guy...maybe we should trade one of these guys and try to get a nice piece |

I like Gus. I think he will do a fine job. Lauridsen played ok last year, he might be a third pair dman. Manning is a career minor leaguer imo.
Gervais is a waste of oxygen. - PLindbergh31
Those guys only play if injury occurs. |

I'd rather let Laughton start on the 4th line (like the great Mike Richards did) and earn his way up the ranks. I'd rather not trade Couturier, bank on Laughton, and find that he is in over his head. |

Makes the most sense. French Canadian guy, and Montreal is desperately in need of some size up front. |

If he's healthy. He's missed at least 20 games the last three seasons. - PhillySportsGuy
He missed 9 this year, 18 in 11-12, and 17 in 10-11. But I'd need to know what the injuries were to know if it's a sign he's breaking down. |

I think Thomas might be the best pick here. I don't want to trade assetts for Halak, unless you are getting him for a 2nd rounder. If Schneider who is signes for a long time only gets a first, Halak who only has a year left should only get a 2nd.
Emery I would think will be looking for multiple years. I would bet he is looking for at least a 3 year deal. Thomas is perfect because he will likely want that 1 year deal, which will leave the Flyers the perfect time to see what they have in Mason, and decide who will be available in UFA next off-season. - youarewrong
Schneider is signed for 2 more years, which to me isn't a long time. Just 1 more year than Halak. If I'm St. Louis, I ask for Read, a 2nd, and a B level prospect for Halak.
Personally, if we were to go with Mason/Thomas for a year or two, I'd love it if we signed Schneider if he hits UFA. Brodeur could easily play 2 more years, if I'm Cory that pisses me off and I sign elsewhere when the time comes. |

I agree. I find it slightly bizarre that people are already penciling Laughton in as the third line center or worried about having to trade him. Let him play a full NHL season first. |

Friday is a huge day. Holmgren can't afford to have another trainwreck like last summer. |

If they sign Vinnie, I'd go with:
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Vinnie-Read
Talbot-Couturier-Simmonds
McGinn or Rosehill-Laughton-Rinaldo
Gives you a good balance of size and speed on each line and a nice mix of offense and 2 way play on the 2nd and 3rd lines. - BiggE
I like it, so long as we get a decent 1B to tandem with Mason and it all fits under the cap. |

I think it safe to say New Jersey will sign him before he hits UFA |

Emery or Thomas is fine with me. I prefer Emery but both players have some serious vicious bite in their games. Both are willing to hack and slash to protect their crease. - dingo8urbaby
Concern with Emery is, if Mason falters can Emery hold up physically being a starter? Not sure he can. |

Possibilities:
Trade Coburn, Read, 2014 1st for Mr. Fist and Hiller
Sign Leighton v4.0
Punch Bettman in face
Sign Lecavalier to big term big $$ contract
Sign aging "veteran" defensman for 2 years |

Outside of Ek predictions which i think we all take with a grain of salt...I cant see why Vinny would possibly want to come here...However i dont see dallas and detroit as fits either..should someone tell me why he would come here..and do we really think he will - nonpoint22
Simon Gagne will talk him into signing here and they will play on a line together! |
