I know +/- is not the greatest stat, but Vinny has been a minus in 10/14 years. Even in 2 years. A plus 2 one year and a plus 23 one year.
Anyone have the sabermetrics for Vinny last season? |

He still getting paid by Tampa so I dont know how much money will play into it...I guess think that if at this stage of his career he would be better served joining a contender and taking a cap friendly deal - nonpoint22
He might feel that way, he might also want to join a team where he'll sport a major role. |

Friday is a huge day. Holmgren can't afford to have another trainwreck like last summer. - PLindbergh31

Possibilities:
Trade Coburn, Read, 2014 1st for Mr. Fist and Hiller
Sign Leighton v4.0
Punch Bettman in face
Sign Lecavalier to big term big $$ contract
Sign aging "veteran" defensman for 2 years - jmatchett383
$20 says Holmgren does all of these in the next 3 months.

Why do you say that? - PhillySportsGuy
While Tampa was a purely offensive team, I think I like Lavi's system for offense a little better. Tampa relied on turn-overs and scoring on the transition. While the Flyers are full attack. I just think that is better style for a player like Vinny. |

Defense is horrific and they haven't had a goalie for years. |

Off topic, but:
Now that Phoenix has drafted Tie Domi's son, do they also need to draft Tomas Kaberle's son so that Max has a player to hide behind when challenged to as fight by the son of Luke Richardson? |

As much as I hurt me to say this Boston is the place i would pick if I were him they have some cap space and if he took a cap friendly deal he could replace Horton |

If last season taught us anything, it's that Lavi can't use the same system without good puck moving defenseman |

But if we have a fully healthy group of Timonen, Coburn, Meszaros, and Gus, do we have a group of good puck-moving defensmen? |

Adv stats seem to indicate he was average across the board for the most part -- standard numbers for an average 2nd-line scoring forward who's not terrible defensively. |

It's not a great crop of UFA's. Might see some overpayments on marginal players. |

I agree. I find it slightly bizarre that people are already penciling Laughton in as the third line center or worried about having to trade him. Let him play a full NHL season first. - Feanor
I watched some of his games this year in juniors. If you couple that with how impressive he was in his first 9 games as a Flyer... I have no doubt he will transition smoothly.
That being said, I think one of Couts or Laughton has to be moved for a young defenseman. Personally I think we can get more out of Couts, and I like Laughton's offensive game more. He was always moving to scoring postions, and hitting passes a kid on a 9 game trial should be scared to make. I was really impressed. |
