Not so much patience, but the Salary Cap get's in the way. It's a shame, but they may need to give him away to do something else. And let's not forget that the Cap space is part of the return. - MJL
Most definitely. Just wish we had the luxury of being able to wait on moving him to ensure a better return in terms of non-cap related assets. Granted, if all he shows is that he's still hurt he'll be immovable and we'll wish we got a 7th for the cap space. |

I think Toronto is going to be in on Clarkson. Hometown guy. - PLindbergh31
LeCavalier to Boston or Detroit. |

Absolutely agree with everything. If he's moved you know he'll go back to looking the Ashbee award winner of 2010-11. Ideally, the Flyers show patience this offseason and if they aren't offered a deal to their liking, they hold on to him. Then in the preseason, hopefully he shows other teams he's healthy, and he could always be moved then. Who knows. It won't happen (the Flyers show patience? ha).
Edit: But like MJL said, cap space is also a major asset and reason for moving him. - five4fighting10

Kypreos just said they jumped back in. NYR, Philly, Boston, Detroit... He said to rule the Canadian teams out. |

Surprised the Rangers aren't figuring prominently in this... they're undersized down the middle and Vinny's BFF is Brad Richards. They also have oodles of cap space. |

My guess is there will be teams hoping to add D via free agency who won't be able to get the player(s) they want. Mezaros will be traded to one of those teams probably for a 3rd or 4th round pick. - BiggE
I'd be surprised but real happy with a 3rd round pick. I was thinking maybe before training camp, he nets a 5th or 6th round. Maybe the pick could go slightly higher in September if he shows he's healthy. |

Not hating on Meszaros but I think he won the Barry Ashbee award while playing with O'Donnell as a 3rd pairing. Right now he could be back at a 3rd pairing but with the cap going down and his injury history, he can't be kept at his cap hit. They need the cap space |
