Just so I understand this. You think they're going to trade Couturier because they're afraid his trade value is going to decrease, if he doesn't improve offensively? I think they'll trade Couturier for one reason. To add a top, true # defenseman. - MJL
I agree. Not sure where I said otherwise. |

wonder if the potential big trade would be with the Jets and include Kane/Bogosian? |

im saying if you think you can flip Couturier into a package for a #1 dman then now is the time to do it.
if he has another sub par offensive year, he might not have that type of value next year.
again, im not predicting or saying what i want to see. Just a gut feeling |

So, again, just looking at CapGeek, all the Flyers have to do is dump Meszaros and sign another goalie for...$2.5 million? That sound about right?

I honestly think Couturier gets dealt - Crimsoninja

Me thinks Byfuglien would be more likely to be traded, but BSchenn + for Kane would be fantastic |

Since Couturier's cap hit won't match up for a top dman, wouldn't it be hard to make that kind of trade? |

Maybe they are targeting a young defenseman
Or corburn is part of the deal too |

So I forget if I pointed this out, but over the past 5 years Vinny has an average 0.828 pts/game. And now that he's been traded to the Flyers, all Toronto fans immediately are saying that he's washed up and old and the Flyers made a mistake. Can you say "jealousy"?
EDIT: He also has those numbers playing on a largely underwhelming Tampa team, playing away from their 2 most skilled forwards (Stamkos and St. Louis). I hope he can put up amazing numbers with 2 actually skilled wingers here. |

Okay, I get that. I misunderstood you and thought that you were saying the reason the Flyers would trade him is because they're afraid his value is going to lessen if he has an off year offensively. So if we agree on what situation that they would be willing to trade Couturier. Nothing has really changed.

Yeah if Coburn was part of the deal then it would work.
I wonder if Edmonton would trade Schultz for Couturier and Coburn |

Probably not. Everyone in Edmonton has a hard on for Coots, but they need more defenseman more than they need more centers. They already have Nug and Gagner.
EDIT:
Hopefully they might consider Coots + Coburn for Klefbom, but he's still a year or two out I believe. |

Thanks! Yeah, I left a little room for callups. Now, one last question, because I can never tell if I did it right: That's with Pronger LTIR? Because I think the Flyers can actually field a roster with Couturier and Schenn, with another goalie at $2.5 million, without Pronger on LTIR?
That's with Meszaros gone but Coburn still here.
Or did I do the math wrong? |

any other franchise signs him and it's a great deal. the flyers sign him and everyone's an expert. homer sucks. flyers suck. contract sucks. blah blah blah. everyone can just (frank) off. i like the player. don't love the contract, but it is what it is. he will help them in every area. i'm on board. no point in being pissed about it.
move a couple of dmen, get a goalie, and be done with it.
let's roll. |

well what's changed is, again, compared to last year when Couts was coming off a nice offensive year for a rookie, he seemed to have a setback in that department this year.
the other change is the Flyers just acquired a tall, 2-way center |
