Some of you people are ridiculous; vinny for 4.5 is a good deal, maybe you can get nash with his 1 goal/ 3points in 12 games or Richards at press box for another 8 years!!!!!!
Vinny was the best player last year for the bolts until salo used his foot for target practice; also led the team in hits at that point for those idiots saying he is soft.
Vinny has been the most misused player the last couple of years playing with some beer league wingers; you give him some talented wingers and he'll be just fine.
I hate philly more than life itself but as of today they are my favorite team and will be purchasing my Vinnie flyer jersey ASAP. - vinnybolt4life

Can they trade Meszaros if he's not health cleared? - Moose_15
Yes injured players can be traded. Mez should be cleared by mid summer and at that point some team will desperate enough for D to at least give up a late round pick for him. The fact that he is going into his last year will help get a deal done. I could see a team struggling to reach the cap floor going for him too, if he can stay healthy they get a good player cheap, if not, no real harm done. |

Don't believe the hype folks, it's very doubtful that Coburn is going anywhere.
Grossmann is coming off concussion issues, Timonen will be 39 by the end of the season and Streit is not exactly a shutdown guy. Coburn will be counted on for 20+ minutes per night and will go every other shift late in games where the Flyers are leading. He's not going anywhere.
Mezaros, on the other hand, may want to start packing. - BiggE
I seriously hope you're right mate. |

Going to be a stud this year. Don't give up on him yet. - stveshdy
He may well be, but with his injury issues, their need to shed salary and the fact that he is in his last year, he is simply the logical choice to go. |

I love the way everything Homer does induces mass panic these days.
I wanted to reach through the radio and choke the snot out of Angelo Cataldi yesterday morning listening to him wail, whine, and moan about the Morin draft pick. |

I think he is what the Flyers need. Can skate, move the puck and has a shot from the point. I rather the Flyers keep him around. |

As if Blowhard Cataldi has the slightest idea of who Morin is or anything about him whatsoever. How can you even listen to that clown? |

Timonen is real good at that (See: Hartnell's foot; Staal's face)
I honestly thought the cap hit would be 5-5.5 mil, so I'm enthused. And like the article that was just linked here cleverly pointed out, if for some reason we need to dump his salary next year, Tampa would be more than happy to have Vinny at 4.5/per, and I'm sure Vinny would be happy to waive his NTC for Tampa). |

There is no reason to think that's the case. - Feanor
Sure there is.
Unless they are going with Cal Heeter as their backup goaltender, the Flyers will probably end up signing a FA veteran goaltender. They'll need cash for that.
Coburn is one guy they could trade. They could also trade Mez. They'll get more back from Coburn, but since they are trying to clear space and Coburn is actually worth more than Mez right now (because of Mez's recent injury history), it may not help the Flyers to trade Coburn. |

I wanted to hear what Al Morganti had to say, but Al kept getting drowned out by Captain Stupid.

The concern is that after 4 serious injuries in the space of roughly a year, will he be the same player he was and will he be able to stay healthy. It's also important to remember that he played his best when on the 3rd pairing and often struggled when moved up and forced to take on harder defensive assignments. With Streit, Timonen and Gustafsson the Flyers have enough offense on the back end, I think Coburn is a better and more durable defender than Mez. |

They have 5.7M in cap room now, which goes up to 9.7M if they dump Mezaros for a pick.
Coburn is their 23 minute a night defensman. |

Not a bad deal, but the term is horrific.
Vinny didnt seem to be the same player anymore, we will see what he has left in the tank.
So much for doing it right, doing it slow, and building properly. Sigh. |

Still not in love with this signing. Like Vinny. Don't love his cap hit and don't love the term.
I think this probably means the end of Brayden Coburn as a Flyer, unless the only thing they get back for Cobie is comparable contracts. Then, I think Mez goes for pennies on the dollar to a team needing to get to the cap floor (if such a team exists). - johndewar
does vinny signing screw the flyers capwise? |

That's high. Dumping Meszaros would give them about 4.3M to work with.
