All speculation, but I think Schenn moves to Wing. - MJL

I actually really like it. I was half tongue in cheek when I said 5 for 22.5 Bc I didn't think it would be enough. The total cap will be 80 or above near the end of this deal.
It's not choking our cap. We don't hade to trade anyone right now and we are under the cap with Prongers LTIR
Way to go holmer!! - Just5

Myers + (you would have to tell me what you would want as the plus) for Couturier and Meszaros?
The money is virtually a wash. You get to solve both your problem with Meszaros and having too many centers in one deal while immediately improving your D.
I know Myers had an off year last year, but in your system, he would thrive. The guy is a tremendous skater and will play mean when the money is on the line like he did against you in the series two years ago. - kingcong39
You just brought up one of the few people in the NHL I would be interested in moving Couter for.
Would Myers and your 2014 #1 for Couturier and Meszaros interest the Sabres? |

It's hilarious, the Penguins trade for every single player at the trade deadline and all the "professionals" applaud them. Flyers get two players and trade NOTHING (except a pick) to upgrade and now every member of the media cracks jokes about how reckless this team is in getting players. Just proves the pathetic double standard the Penguins enjoy. |

i think this is a good thing for couturier. he can do what he's already good at: be the shutdown third line center. no need to heap too much pressure on him to perform offensively. let that come as it will. and assuming they don't subtract from the forward ranks, he should still get ice time with some better linemates |

not trying to be a smart ass, but why do you try? it's always the same poop. honest question: do you ever get anything out of it? - FlyerMike18
i rarely listen these days, and i mean rarely. something just had me turn on wip this morning on the way into work. it's always awful. misanelli was beating his "stepford flyers fans" drum this afternoon. just horrendous. i never get anything out of it but aggravation. |

@johnclarknbc10: Flyers chairman Ed Snider told me yesterday, "We always want to win now. There is no change in philosophy." Lecavalier deal a sign of that |

Personally, I would much rather go with Couturier over Schenn, but that is why you countered with that deal because I think you agree
Would it take more then Myers to get Couturier and Mezaros?
Funny you said that about going for the tallest D in hockey as I think Buffalo is trying for that right now with Myers, drafting Ristolainen & Zadarov, and having McNabb at 6'4 probably ready for the NHL next season. - kingcong39
I actually don't know, as I don't really watch Myers play. Does he have any offensive game at all, or is he purely stay at home? What is his upside potential, top pairing, or second pairing? I'd like to keep Coots personally. I think he'll compete for a Selke someday. And ya, I really like what Buffalo did this draft. You guys were definitely winners this year. A defense of Lauridsen (6'6), Morin (6'7), and Myers (6'8) would definitely be something scary. Maybe our defenses could have train-pulling contests a few years down the road |

I basically look at it this way.
They replaced a 35 year old Briere with a 33 year old Lecavalier and saved 2 million in cap space doing it. Got bigger and most likely more productive in the process. What is not to like? Well, besides the minor problem I have with the term....but its not that big of a deal.

Remember that a trade back to Tampa is always a plausible way out if we need to clear space. |

Some of you people are ridiculous; vinny for 4.5 is a good deal, maybe you can get nash with his 1 goal/ 3points in 12 games or Richards at press box for another 8 years!!!!!!
Vinny was the best player last year for the bolts until salo used his foot for target practice; also led the team in hits at that point for those idiots saying he is soft.
Vinny has been the most misused player the last couple of years playing with some beer league wingers; you give him some talented wingers and he'll be just fine.
I hate philly more than life itself but as of today they are my favorite team and will be purchasing my Vinnie flyer jersey ASAP. - vinnybolt4life

Yes, I think Schenn should be on the wing. He doesn't have the defensive chops to play center.

We now have 3 former captains (Kimmo, Streit, Vinny) and a current captain. I mainly like that he isn't just picking up random old guys, he's picking up the best old guys |
