how the (frank) are they keeping everyone? - hammarby31
Kunitz and Dupuis know their careers will spiral downhill without Crosby and Malkin so they're willing to stay for less. Relax, they still have zero depth as they have 40% of their cap in 3 players. |

Looking into signing Jonathan Blum would be a good signing. Trading Coby, Mez, and Reader would be the ideal trade bait... I just cant see how any team would want to buy Mez because he has such little value, but Grossmann blocks so many shots for us. I cant see who they are gonna get rid of. But who do they get in return? Defensive prospects and draft picks? The possibilities are endless with these guys...
I could even see Hartsy even being used as trade bait with the way he performed this season. - justahockeyguy2
There may be some teams that need to reach the cap floor for Mezzy, but I do not know any off the top of my head, and wed get junk picks. |

certainly seems that way. but i said the same thing during the playoffs about brad richards being bought out, so what do i know - FlyerMike18
How the hell they didn't buy him out is beyond anybody's comprehension. That move is going to bite them in the backside for a long, LONG time. |

Yeah the MOST I can see the Flyers getting for Mez is a 4th rounder... and thats just being generous. |

This
No way schenn or cooter get shipped out
Schenn is Dustin brown in the making!
They'll be able to dump Mez for peanuts
Let's roll - Just5
I think it is going to be far from easy to dump Meszaros. |

So Holmgren signs Vinny Lecavalier and twitter is full of jokes about his inability to manage the cap. Ray Shero spends $73mm in one day on Letang and Dupuis and there's a slew of, good job, great value tweets. |

TK was never in their plans anyway once they signed Morrow and what not. He was mostly a healthy scratch for the rest of the season. - justahockeyguy2

We got the guy for $4.5 (frank)ing million a year, a number people were DREAMING to get him for before his signing, and we're somehow a laughing stock because of it? I believe it's an extremely serious case of jealousy syndrome. |

Ideal situation is we drop Meszaros for cap relief, and sign one of Thomas, Nabokov, or Emery to 1B with Mason.
Secondary choice would be to deal Coburn for picks, maybe grab Blum or Russell for youth and depth.
Now this is Homer we're talking about, so I could see...
Coburn for MPS or Smid +.
Meszaros for new stick tape.
BSchenn for Edler.
Some sort of deal for Halak.
I hope we keep BSchenn and Couturier at all costs. |

Trades BSchenn
A package with Coburn, Mezaros, and Read + picks might be able to get us the defenseman we've been wanting. If we're lucky. |

I actually don't know, as I don't really watch Myers play. Does he have any offensive game at all, or is he purely stay at home? What is his upside potential, top pairing, or second pairing? I'd like to keep Coots personally. I think he'll compete for a Selke someday. And ya, I really like what Buffalo did this draft. You guys were definitely winners this year. A defense of Lauridsen (6'6), Morin (6'7), and Myers (6'8) would definitely be something scary. Maybe our defenses could have train-pulling contests a few years down the road - JAKEw1234
He is not a stay at home D at all. His strengths are his skating, his skating, and his skating. He can fly up and down the ice, especially for being such a big guy. He can sometimes carry the puck up the ice himself, and excels at give and go, even for a D man. He has a ridiculously long reach with his stick. He has no problem hitting either. People want him to be Chara, but he is more offensive and less physical then Chara, however he is a vastly superior skater.
His potential is a number 1/2. I say one slash two because he is not a shut down defender with offensive skills like a Weber or Lidstrom. He has plenty of offensive skills though.
He came into the shortened season last year out of shape (not like Byfuglien, just not in tip top hockey shape) and his season play showed it.
If you pair him with a steady, calm D, you will see the best in him because he will then be free to roam around the ice making plays, both offensively and defensively, without fear of his D partner being out to lunch if he needs to lean on him. |

Good sell, we'll take him
I am actually salivating at the thought of a D core with Lauridsen, Morin, and Myers, though. The cost is the only problem for me. What trade would you like to see? With the condition being that BSchenn is going your direction instead of Coots? |

Just remember that Tampa would more then gladly have their old captain back for 4.5 a year, if we ever find that we need to trade him. |
