also leave out the great names
Doughty-Pietrangelo-OEL or Johansen-Turris-Pouliot?
lot of risk with D, same with F. EDM should risk for D at this point - TheNugeIsHuge
No, I had included Doughty and Pietrangelo. OEL was 6th overall which isn't top 5. You'd be a bad lawyer again.
Plus, never include a player drafted by Columbus. |
|
|
|
Exactly. So Dmen drafted in the top 5 are higher risk and tend to pan out not as perfectly as everyone likes to think. - DTF69
Obviously. D and C are difficult to play in the NHL, let alone excel. Longer curve especially on D. Flashiest guy in juniors isnt always a good bet. Need scouts that can see raw talents and project accurately. |

Know what the most infuriating thing about amatuer scouting is? No team has a dedicated goaltender scout. A guy that only watches goalies. They all have guys that go to games with a list of 4F, 2D and hardly a goalie to rank because most of them decide if a goalie is good by the scoresheet.
Even C in the top 5 have all tended to pan out. Toews, Staal, Sid, Duchene, Johnny T, Stamkos, etc. |

The amount of goals he lets in is kind of relevant though. Still, theres a reason why goalies arent usually drafted in the 1st round much anymore. |

I have a Pat Falloon rookie card somewhere. He is in a ridiculously 90's suit, long mullet and pubes across his upper lip with a goofy smile a zit on his forehead. It is hilarious |

I know but they use guys who were players analyzing players and basically assuming the same evaluation criteria mentally works for goalies. Its like asking your O-Line coach to rank defensive ends. |

I can't remember what mine is. I assume its an upper deck or something. He's doing the classicly strange sitting on a random bar stool holding a hockey stick dangerously close to his face with no company on it pose. - DTF69

I was reading a story on Jagr and back when he was like 8 he asked his dad how to get better at hockey. His pops told him to do squats so Jaromir decided that 1500 was a good number to do. A day. Guess how he spent recess? Wall squats. Lunch break? Wall squats. His afternoon? Wall squats. Bed time snack time? No snack, wall squats. |

Just putting it out there, if we do get Coburn now it will likely be for a better deal than before the draft.
All you twerps who were ragging MacT for not getting anything done on draft day might now realize that patience is a virtue. - Morris
Patience is a virtue. Just think if Gillis hadn't been in such a hurry to unload Schneider. He should have waited past the draft and properly shopped Schneider. I'm guessing he would have been able to do much better than Horvat. Anyway, not complaining when Canucks make a mistake, just sayin... |

Indians squats sound like something you get when you eat too much Curry. |
