Hell no! Not until Minnesota buys him out. I wouldn't want him back @ 4mill - Ihatebrianburke
if they're considering buying him out, they could likely retain some salary.
Gilbert was playing 23 mins a night for EDM last year, and he faired quite well. |

No way Thomas is getting 4mil for a goalie who just took a year off who is 39. - 215mike
and won the vezina, cup and conn smythe 2 years ago. Also had a .920 last year.
Seeing as Smith just got 5.7 for one good season. I think Thomas gets a lot |

As I have said all along....
Cobourn and a Third rnd
For
Paajarvi and a 1rst rnd.
Theo Peckham may also be involved......good times.... - landros 2
What a joke. I wouldn't trade either of those assets for Coburn straight up. |

Much better aside from the smid thing. I too was thinking now that the flyers have signed venny that the coburn to edm made more sense i also agree taht at this moment MPS is probably not a good idea we don't have anyone to play the second line LW unless we stick yaks there and keep hemsky for another year and people won't like that. Horton is an RW and as much as i like the guy we've got plenty good RW's right now. I'm tryin to think of a decent second line LW that could be had here. Currently the only big name i can think of is bobby ryan. THat could be MacT's big splash but highly unlikely. Maybe david booth is more likely but he's not a better option then MPS would rather have Pajaarvi then booth. Jeff shultz on the oilers would be highly amusing. On horcoff, he won't end up in la or pits detroit maybe but who do we even trade him for. I too think it's just better to buy him out. I suspect the oilers will be somewhat buys as they have to fill some holes in their farm system now as well as the NHL team.. Tomorrow things will get interesting as we learn what people the oilers have been talking too friday will be hopefuly somewhat interesting as we land at least a few names of use. |

Why does Smid have to go anywhere? Klefboom is a puppy, that new Russian is a unproven KHL player, If we can keep Smid and get Coburn the world is a much happier place. - Pell02
Yeah I agree. Philly is not going to want a 3.5 mil salary back for their 4.5. They might be interested in Belov as a cheaper option. However if they are taking Paajarvi, they will probably be looking at a pick or prospect in return. They can't afford our big dmen.
This would make sense as a 3 way trade. Securing them Halak from the blues while we give the blues... whatever they want. They need a center and to sign some players. However they might be one of the teams interested in adding a veteran d like Nick or a top 6 winger in Hemsky. However if paajarvi is what we have to sacrifice for Coburn. I think it is something we might have to do. |

Heard from the Flyers board Mesz will go on LTIR? No one will simply give them a pick for that contract. - Iggysbff
The contract only one year on it left. Not expecting much of a return if he is moved. Meszaros is expected to be declared healthy sometime in July. Unless there is a physical relapse, he won't be going on LTIR.

Why would they retain any salary when they can just use a comliance buyout and not be stuck with any cap hit? |

Why the (frank) would the Flyers deal a defenceman away? Offensively their overstocked, so dealing a forward for a defenceman would make sense, not taking away from a poopty blueline to pick up an even pooptyier dman. |

Come on nuge. Gilbert is not the answer. You going to pair him with J Schultz? what a nightmare that would be. - Iggysbff
If hes bought out and thrown on the 3rd pairing short term and cheap i suppose he'd be a decent option if a bunch of other options fell through.
Certainly shouldnt be looking to him as prime target though...
He's no longer better than a 5th dman

Clouts!!
Why does Smid have to go?? Is it such a bad thing to have them both in the lineup?
Wouldnt that make the team better? They have 5 mill space from Whitney leaving. |

Dude today I start summer classes and it's only me and two chicks in it. One of them is from Connecticut and talked about wanting to work in hockey and for the NHL and stuff. Then I talked to her after class about her interest in hockey and she says, "My friend plays for the Canadiens."
I was like, "What? Who?"
And it turned out she's a close friend of Max Pacioretty. She grew up with the guy and went to his wedding. |

Sorry Ricardo, but throwing play-do at the wall to see if it sticks is not a "source" !!!
Trading Smid and replacing him with Coburn fixes nothing...adding them together adds the improvement. |

Why put Potter on waivers? Keep him around as a cheap 6/7/8 option on the roster. |

Def interested in ference, but like to see if we can make a deal for a true top 4 before going after gilbert. Really dont think hes the answer unless we're out of options.
Got a hunch they might only move for 1 guy.(trade or FA) and try and have belov at 6.
Schultz walks next year and space for one of marin/klefbom
