Filip Kuba to be bought out.
And the parade of not-qualified former 1st-rounders continues: Gillies, Hamill, Ellerby and McCollum now UFA's. Legein's a UFA too. |

Can you imagine the calamity that would ensue here is Phaneuf was traded here, then the Flyers sign DiPierto, and trade for Patrick Kaleta.
What would you do? - youarewrong
I think the bigger question is what would THEY do? |

What about Boston, they have 2 good goalies behind Rask. Subban, and whatever that other kids name is. - youarewrong
Yeah there are some out there and if it wasn't obvious, I'm not an NHL GM so I have the luxury of daydreaming....I've never been as impressed with the play of a young goalie as I was with him so that's why I was kind of focusing on him.
Like I said though, I think that they thinks its Mason and want only a suitable backup for him this season to see if he can really be the guy. |

Speaking of profile pics, that is the Yoda. I was at an exhibit in Orlando, Fl that had real star wars movie props. Maybe I will switch it up, take a vote. What should I be next:
Chewie, the Falcon, the real vader, an x-wing, star destroyer, imperial walker, r2d2, c3po.... |

Honestly solving our goalie problems once and for all wouldn't be that hard. We would just have to be a little extreme I think we can safely say atleast one good starting goalie comes out of every draft. I don't see why we don't just focus our scouting for an entire year on goalies, and use all of our draft picks in a year to pick up multiple of the best goalie prospects that year. Just fill our coffers with like 7 or 8 promising goalie prospects and one is bound to pan out. Now that our prospect pool has so much depth at defense, and our forward depth is good as well, I don't see the problem with dedicating a year to goaltending. |

I'm all for Thomas.
Pros. Two Vezinas, a Stanley Cup, a possible mentor to get Steve Mason on track. True evidence that you can never come into the NHL too late and become someone important.
Cons. He's weirdo.
None of this equals that he'll be what Bryzgalov has been here the past two seasons. |

I think it would just be smarter to make sure you select at least 3 total goalies every 2 years |

He was completely computer generated, so there were no props of him... But I'm not happy with your comparison.... |

My point is... he is so far removed from local boy, that e is known by the name change he took up in California.

You didn't make a point. I'm well aware of Bobby Ryan's history and it's rather cocky of you to assume that I didn't. I'm not so sure you can be "well removed" from being a local player to an area. For example, players all around the league could have been born in one place and played somewhere else. There are plenty of young teenage U.S. players and Russian players who have come over to play in juniors. I'm sure they all miss home at some point. |

The point is... people are extremely enamored with Bobby Ryan... the local kid. So enamored in fact that they dont even realize that when he did live here, he was known as Robert Stevenson.
Not being cocky. I just find it hilarious that people want this guy so bad... primarily because he was a Flyers fan growing up, and had ties to Bob Clarke.
My point... Bobby Ryan isnt a local kid. He is a kid from Cali. |

Per Todd Cordell, the Flyers have apparently invited undrafted forward Stephen Harper to their rookie camp. He was rated by some as a potential 1st rounder for the 2013 draft and some how failed to get drafted.
Definitely interested to see him, might earn himself a contract with a strong showing. |

Kid took a tremendous dive.. He was at one point in the 20's in rankings. Lets cross our fingers and hope he proves the experts wrong. |

How do get projected to go 1st round and not even get drafted? Like how does that even happen?
But whatever, we're really good at getting good undrafted players, so I'm game. |
