dipietro signed to a 2 way to become the next leighton - isaiah520
I know many people don't like him. Not sure if he would help.
I would be looking to sign Nabokov for 1-2 year deal. |

Such a terrible business concept to have. Failing franchises are rewarded for failing instead of moving the teams to areas where they can thrive.
Let bad market teams die, then move them. Don't save them so 4,000 people can keep their team. - Flyersgod
The problem is that Phoenix is such a large city. Even if a small percentage watch the games, it's still more overall people than a smaller canadian city, which would live and die with their team.
The Coyotes to Phoenix are like the Union to Philadelphia. |

So what's next for the Flyers? - stveshdy
Goalie. Has to be. Even if it's just a cheap back-up.
My fiancee is cringing inside cuz he'd rather use a cardboard cutout than Thomas. Sadly I think he's a distinct possibility. |

Im surprised you guys are willing to part with Talbot, I thought he was a spark to your team. I hate him but you guys shouldn't. Im also very excited to hate Vinny. - nbartley9
Yeah that was a horrible thing for me to ask, you guys are like talking to a giant tin foil ball.

"My big concern has nothing to do with the salary cap: In order to get back into the playoffs, this team is going to have to cut its goals against average next season. Mark Streit will help them move the puck better and both he and Lecavalier should help them keep puck possession in the offensive zone longer. Even so, the Flyers' team defense remains suspect."
I think Bill summarized the Flyer risk in the above comment.
Holmgren knows his team and you know he is not yet finished. He needs to do something in goal and he needs another Dman. Does he have the space or leverage to jump on a future opportunity.
Essentially the salaries of LeCavalier and Streit are offset by Briere and Bryzgalov. I am less enthusiastic about these deals than I normally am about most Holmgren moves. - spatso
I just don't understand how adding Streit and Vinny then possibly trading read and coburn make this a better defensive team. |

Phoenix is the 12th largest TV market in America. That fact alone explains why the NHL wants a presence there. |

If the Flyers needed to move salary, why would they trade Talbot? He makes under 2M. I think that's just wishful thinking from a pens fan. - PhillySportsGuy
Exactly -- MJL and I ran rosters and numbers yesterday, and Bill explains it well in the blog today.
The Flyers don't have to do ANYTHING other than move Andrej Meszaros and sign a goalie for roughly $2.5 million-$3 million. They have a full roster already.
That means that Simon Gagne likely won't be back, and many people wish that wasn't true, me included.
But at the same time, they literally don't have to do anything other than swap Meszaros' roster slot with a goalie who makes less -- and that makes cap compliant without even touching Pronger's LTIR.
Good luck explaining that to the morons who troll this team, though. |

Thomas or Nabokov would be my choices. Not looking for any deal past two years max.
If they can find a way to get another good goalie that's cool also. |

Vinny's gonna cover the loss of Briere (and then some, hopefully). - tangent_man
I have to agree. I love Briere - but he was invisible every game last season. Even if Vinny disappears sometimes it'll be an upgrade. |

sign Gagne, Thomas and Andrew Ference, call it an offseason. Also trade Coburn and Mesz for draft picks or prospects. |

That's the most likely scenario. Only way they trade Coburn is if they get back a return they like. Otherwise, Mez is gone! |

There were times when I watched an entire Tampa Bay game and forgot Vinny was on the team or I just assumed he was injured and not playing. |

Someone's projecting their own experiences onto others.
But please, tell us again how Hartnell is done at 31 and will be traded despite having an NMC. It's such an interesting and honest opinion I feel like it needs more discussion. |

So question. Besides Mason we only hve Cal Heeter right? Stolarz is staying where he is next year. If that's the case we need an AHL goalie too.
Or am I mistaken and forgetting someone? |
