Whats going on with Ray Emery & the Hawks? Yesterday's reports had him resigned with Chicago.
Today he's still a UFA. |

There is a deal supposedly set in place. 2 years at 4.5 per according to Jaeckel. I think it's just a rumor as of now? |

At 12:01 am ET Wednesday, talks can begin (buyout candidates can already be contacted), but signings are forbidden until noon ET Friday. |

These players are being very greedy at the moment. Their agents are on crack, if they think team are going to sign them for some of the doe they are asking. |

Agents are just testing the new system... Seeing how much a nervous GM will bend when watching his other colleagues spend or start courting another player.
Can't fault players or agents anymore... It's the NHL GM's and owners who create this |

At least it's Katie Strang saying it for a change. Usually, the only one who says anything about us having interest before someone else signs the player is Eklund. |

As long as teams like Islanders and Flyers have Help Wanted Sign up for a vet goalie to play 50 plus games, why shouldn't they test the waters?

Unless you're signing a goalie for $8M a year, you're still likely to be $5+M short of the floor. More likely: Bailey about 2.5, Hamonic 3, Clutterbuck 2.5, the rest 2 total, if they sign, which Ullstrom, for one, won't. In the end, you're likely looking at 4, and then you have to figure that at least one guy they acquire will be a trade, which may leave them even. I'm also probably inflating the salaries a bit. I can't see us only adding one player, and still making the floor. - dcb1
I thought I read the Islanders wanted 13 forwards, 8 defensemen and 2 goalies in their final 23 man roster out of training camp. If that is the case, I would think they will bring in another veteran defenseman like Ferrence, Scuderi, maybe Ballard or Gilbert and rookie Matt Donovan. Also, I wouldn't be suprised if they deal Hickey in a package with others and picks for a goalie and forward. Gallof thought they will only keep 2-3 rookies on the opening game roster out of camp. Hopefully,I think we might see some trades and free agents coming our way by the weekend... |

That's what I am thinking- a defenseman, a goalie and a forward for JT's line, or a second line center. Two free agents and a trade.....I'm just saying they will HAVE TO do two of these things just to make the floor. No choice..... |

I think Garth Snow is worned out. I mean he made a trade on draft day and then all the picks. |

He has no choice. He must add at least $7M in salary, best case scenario for Wang's checkbook. Likely more like $9M. |
