The Habs, surprisingly, are in a good position cap-wise. They could afford him. |

Gionta is UFA next year, Habs are not contender next season, he is not a problem long term. - Symba007
I agree.
I was saying picking up Briere on a short term deal and trading Gionta for a pick(whatever that might fetch at the deadline or prior to) means we get an extra asset out of it. |

I would prefer Janne Niinimaa - Symba007

Everyone thought MB would move before/during the draft...don't know if he'll move someone prior to training camp. |

If he can move Gionta, they'll have $14M left to sign two top-9 wingers. |

Gonchar and Streit just got $5M+ contracts, meaning that old PP specialists still have good value. If the only thing Bergevin can get from Markov is a shutdown D, then (frank) him. |

...and have them as our farm team? No thanks, the utility bills alone would bankrupt us. |

Markov is by far the slowest of those three. That being said, I'm thinking big D and pick/prospect. |

So you're the Dallas GM right now, you're just (frank)ing itching to ice Cody Eakin as your #2 Center?
Gionta might be a tough sell but I can't imagine Desharnais is impossible to move. - Leito49
Eakin is younger, cheaper, has very similar results to DD last year plus a higher upside......so......no....I doubt he would even consider replacing Eakin with DD. |
