Bergevin cannot be that dumb to sign Briere. Impossible! As for Vinny, he never really wanted to come to Mtl. Bergevin never really wanted Vinny. It's a 5 year plan and we will have to wait! |

I think he'll be an NHL player, which at this juncture seems more predictable than Christian Thomas' future.
More to the point, Kristo is an edgy player that has skill...he would've been a good fit on the Canadiens. And it's odd to just hand a prospect over like him when Hamilton is so thin at this stage...
but like I wrote, there were off-ice issues. And this move makes me think they were deeper than anyone knew.
In the meantime, Rangers are reuniting American players that have played together on many occasions in Kristo, Kreider, McDonagh, Stepan - EricEngels
Glad the Habs can help in this regard. |

I thought it was speculated the Habs offer was for 3 years at 9 Mill.
Soooo.........because he didn't leave 13.5 mill on the table he and his agent should suck a Richard? - yemrots
Is it me or this kind of offer screams "let's make an offer in order to show the fans we were somewhat interested, but really, we were not that interested" ? |

signing Briere would be nothing but fan appeasement. he fills no discernible void on this team. small, quick, soft top-6 forward? it's the one thing we have in abundance. the singing would just make no sense. the teams who should go after Briere are the ones who have size up front but had trouble putting the puck in the net during the playoffs... LA, SJ, St Louis, even Boston...
as for Kristo... pretty sure stormey paid Bergevin to make that deal. that's a good 3 years of material for him right there. |

No kidding.
In fact if this is true, even if Vinny wanted to play in Montreal wouldn't he look at this offer and say "Go (frank) yourself?" |

As much as I hate Brière, there is one thing I can't take away from him.
He shows up in the playoffs. |

And one is a first line centre, the other a 23 year old guy playing pro for the first time with attitude problems. |

This is possible. It's also possible that Bergevin may lean a little too heavily in the direction of character. Perhaps there were worries about his influence on other young players. It was also rumoured that he didn't want to play in Montreal.

If he wanted to play in Mtl he would of signed earlier and not play out his college career. Anyways, he is not a star. |
