Wouldn't surprise me if the Flyers move two defenseman tonight/tomorrow. - stveshdy
I love NHL free agency because things usually happen fast. Last year was unusual because Parise took a white to make his decision. |

I think he could be that too. But I am disturbed by the years being thrown around to 30+ players by the Flyers. In the short term they are better, but the point is, they are not better enough and close ain't no cigar. I would have preferred they actually focus on building a more cohesive defensively responsible team. Make the forwards backcheck and come back into zone for short passes from D. Perhaps get another set of high draft picks and be ok with an average reg season, even 2. See what we have in the young forwards and THEN add missing pieces as needed. I would have shown confidence in Couts/SChenn and let them develop/compete for the #2 center role.
In other words I saw the basic problem with team as being system rather than personnel. And with all these new pieces being brought in, the emphasis will be diverted from that.
Also, I see VL being described as a good ES player. I don't see it. He is a consistent - player throughout his career and always outside the top 5 forwards in +/- in the TBL team in recent years. We will have Simmer, Harts, Schenn, Vinny usually out on ice and this is going to be a problem. - PT21
I think you're points are valid. I think a player like Streit will help in the puck transition game. And hopefully spend less time in their own end. Lecavalier will make them a better offensive team. And the style of play that Laviolette preaches, has not shown to be a style conducive to strong defensive play. I really hope that Laviolette makes some changes system wise. Don't know that he will. But I hope. And if the Flyers don't improve overall defensively as a team, then that is going to be a problem.

Can...but probably won't. |

I agree dingo! Not that I don't like Meszaros. But the injuries, and he's in the last year of his deal, makes him the logical defenseman to move. - MJL
When exactly must the Flyers create the space? |

Why was he matched up against Malkin as a rookie in the playoffs? - cfish99
Because, for good or ill, Lavy has been putting Couturier out there repeatedly against tough opposing forwards. Yes, Coots had some impressive battles with Shrek, but by the same token, he still put up 10 pts in 7 games in that series.
By contrast, Malkin had just 5 pts in 9 games against Ottawa and Boston. |

It depends on what they want to do. As far as other player moves. As of right now, by the end of training camp.

To the Oilers, for PRV and Hemsky. Maybe we'll throw in Teubert. |

It's looking more and more like a pipe dream but I'm still holding on to hope for Simon Gagne and Ray Emery. I was one of the few looking to dump Matt Read but with the money spent on Lecavalier at center, I have zero interests in allowing Read to get away. I've had a major change of heart. It's amazing what one move can do. |

I don't think they have to move Coburn, but people are very interested in him especially at 4.5 mil for a couple of years. Mez is a easy salary dump but won't get a really good return. |

You would throw in Teubert whom has been nothing short of disappointment and the other 2.
No thank you. The offer has to be better. |
