Anything is possible....I wouldnt be shocked if Coots changes his address tomorrow, I am just saying I dont think it will happen, which means it will - nonpoint22
IF Couturier is moved the Flyers will be getting back a nice package. |

You would throw in Teubert whom has been nothing short of disappointment and the other 2.
No thank you. The offer has to be better. - ob18
Twas a joke. We didnt even qualify Teubert.

I don't think they have to move Coburn, but people are very interested in him especially at 4.5 mil for a couple of years. Mez is a easy salary dump but won't get a really good return. - cfish99
I don't care if Meszaros gets dumped for a conditional 7th round pick. I like Meszaros like anyone else here but he is the guy to dump. Everything that makes him especial as a player comes from his shoulders. His hits, his hard shot, pinning opposing forwards to the boards come from his shoulders. Right now i have little confidence that he can hold up. If there is a guy to dump, it's Andrej Meszaros. |

The PK has been pretty good the last couple of years and he's been a mainstay on it. It's not like Bryz was bailing them out with great saves. - PhillySportsGuy
Yes, but this is one of the instances where advanced stats can help provide some color...in looking at 4 vs 5 (PK) performance, as defined by the number of goals allowed while a particular player is on the (PK) ice, there were several Flyer players that had less goals let in while they were on the PK versus when Coots was on it.
Here is 2013 Goals Allowed per 60 minutes of PK time on ice(adjusted for players that spent at least a minute of PK time per game)...Coots is ranked the worst:
(higher number means more goals allowed per 60 mins of that player's PK time played):
Couturier 8.82 goals allowed per 60 min of PK
Fedotenko 5.94 goals allowed per 60 min of PK
Giroux: 3.74 goals allowed per 60 min of PK
Talbot: 3.30 goals allowed per 60 min of PK
Read 2.79 goals allowed per 60 min of PK
Hall 2.55 goals allowed per 60 min of PK
*Gagne (only averaged .36/gm on PK but no goals were let in during those times)
So, the Flyers let up less than half the amount of goals with players like G, Talbot and Read on the ice versus when Couturier is on the ice. And yet he's supposed to be, as some believe, established as the team's top defensive forward?
edit: also, for those who might think that his poor rank here was due to seeing some sort of tougher compeition, his CorsiRelQualcomp -- a measure of how good his opposition is, indicates that players like Feds and Talbot faced tougher competition, and yet the team let in less goals against during their PK minutes (than Coots did while facing weaker competition in his PK minutes) |

I Don't like PRV. He has been a huge disappointment. - PhillySportsGuy
His development curve has been longer than expected but hes actually turning into a really solid player. If he can pick up his offence I wouldnt even want to move him. |

Ray Emery very likely moving on from Chicago, looking for bigger role, chance at 1 or 1a spot. I'd put Philly as front-runner.

For paajarvi and a first I'd trade Coburn. The draft is in Philly next year so we could use a first.... and we'll need the cap and our 1st for when we OS pietrangelo tomorrow |

Unfortunately, the injuries make that a prudent course of action.

I agree 100%...and if thats all they do outside of signing a goalie I can live with that. I mean we already got Vinny |

I would do it too. I think that's a lot for Edmonton to give up though. There is some pressure for them to turn the corner and become legitimate contenders. They aren't in need of picks.
How come they are so eager to get rid of PRV if he's "turning the corner" |

Now Simmonds is going to be mad that he won't be the only black guy on the team.. i don't know if that's a good move.

Because hes an asset with value whos last name is not Hall, Nugent-Hopkins,Eberle or Yakupov. |

I love Ray Emery. Love him! I was over the moon when he signed here his first go around. I was convinced he was our goalie of the future and our next Hextall. Sadly he was set back and the vision of mine is dead. Either way, I would love to have him for the next three seasons. Total mature turn around since Ottawa. |
