I thought an 8.25 hit might come with a limited ntc
Guess not. Your right. I don't like the deal.
The flyers brass in a sense want to believe he's worth that. Not much squeezing going on - Just5
I don't pay attention to the NMC anymore. Most players waive them if you really want to trade them down the road. |

The Hall resigning is fishy. - coffee junkie

7.5 - coffee junkie
I don't think its a bad deal. He's their franchise player. Only 25 years old and still getting better. |

I'm expecting like three trades tomorrow. Holmgren cant resist and they might have to make some moves to fit people in. |

What price do you think he should of got? - stveshdy
7.25M would've been a good deal and a home town discount.
I would be all for trading Giroux for a Pietro or the like. |

I don't think it's terrible but just not good. I really thimk the Flyers always overpay. But perhaps that's why players mostly want to play here. We show a lot of respect in deals. |

NHL Source Flyers are going to make at least one trade. If they can't get Ryan or Kane Iginla becomes a very realistic option. |

They are sooo deep down the middle now. He's kinda superfluous. |

No I don't. For what he does on the team, I don't think his contract is bad. Second, for the holes still on the roster moving Talbot as a central piece is not going to fix those holes in my opinion. |

Tim Panaccio @tpanotchCSN 19m
Flyers had prepared themselves for a cap hit of between $8.21m and $8.41m for Giroux. His number came in at $8.275

I agree it won't be the offer sheet route. G and Vinny are the top 2 centers for easily the next 3 years presumably. In theory, you have 3 guys capable of filling the third center spot long-term. For me, the 4th line center should be a vet with a strong defensive presence and face-off ability (ie - Hall, and those guys usually can be found pretty easily and rather cheaply). They have assets to move that teams covet. - ravishingone
to me, schenn would be the guy to move, but it has to be for a young plyr... preferably a dman. i'd rather keep him though. |

I'll go on record right now and say he won't play up to the extension. Check back on this post in 9 years. |

7.5 - coffee junkie
And that might even be a bit high for his production. Anybody making $8 million plus should have to make a Messier like guarantee to lift the cup before the contract expires. Anything less and you didn't earn that kind of money.

1.7 M for a fourth liner, fill in third liner. Don't want to see him go but would make some cap sense. The fact Hall is a center means they have little faith in Laughton or Couturier could be traded. Right? |

That is weird. But I'm thinking the flyers are thinking well hall brings about 90% of his game for a third of the price.
