I agree but coots would fetch the return we want Laughton will not - nonpoint22
Don't care. Don't think trading Cou2rier would be a smart move. |

Laughton's offensive game as the same stage in their careers is a lot less developed than Coots and people are knocking coots for not scoring enough... - Yosimar89

Or we could be fooling ourselves thinking Laughton's ceiling offensively is anywhere near Couturier's. |

Man a lot of people getting riled up for hypotheticals...Flyers dont have to do anytyhing after they get a goalie. That includes trading Coby, dump Mez for a bag of pucks and we are fine cap wise. I truly believe Flyers have learned their lesson in giving up young players, unless someone wants to pay a hall for Couts he isnt going anywhere. |

Pretty sure Laughton has an equal offensive upside to coots. You also haven't seen him play in a year, so you don't actually know if he can score in the NHL, you're just assuming cause you don't want to trade Coots. |

The thought of it -- and constant talk of it by an unwitting fan base -- is Seravalling ticking me off now. |

It's been established via scouting and by our own Bill Meltzer via his blogs that Laughton doesn't have the same scoring potential. You just don't want to see that because you want to trade Couturier. |

The Flyers did announce on Thursday that they will re-sign journeyman center Adam Hall to a one-year deal.
Good. He's solid on faceoffs and can help the PK. |

Just tired of the same old lame rumors trade proposals. I'd rather people drool over Robert Stevenson than trading Sean Couturier. |

Edmonton has a hard on for him, and they need Coburn. I can't even imagine how much of a return we could get for both of them (wasn't a guy in here earlier suggesting MPS and a 1st rounder for Coburn alone?). Too bad they don't really have the guys we need. |

Either way, in the next 5 years Coots cannot play the 3rd line. It just makes no sense at all. 25 year old Laughton seems like he'd fit much better on a 3rd line than 26 year old Couturier. And I must've missed that Bmetz blog, but fine. Laughton doesn't need to have the offensive potential of a projected top 3 pick to still effectively play defense and still produce good offense. He won't totally make up for what Coots leaves behind, of course. But what Coots will bring in return imo makes it worth it enough. |
