I don't want to sign a vet goalie. We have a vet goalie named Luongo. I'd much rather turn one of the swedish youngsters into a quality trade chip and bring the other one up next season.

Goalies are worth nothing in trades. We'd be lucky to get a a 2nd round pick for any of our goalies. Much more value in keeping and developing them.

Ya, MG threw a lot of picks around for a few years. Oddly, the one that bothered me most was this season's 2nd. I tried to fool myself into thinking it was OK cuz it was a low price for Roy, but in reality I knew he was too 1 dimensional and didn't have the size to be the right addition to our team. It's pretty hard to fault a GM for being aggressive when the team is close however. Who would have thought Ballard would have turned out so badly?

I think AV shoulders much of the blame.. I think he'll have a bounce back season of sorts in Minny. It's hard to believe we could not have used his skating ability to help lead the rush on the PP since Erhoff's departure.

I blame Ballard entirely on AV.

Buying out Bozak next year would still count against their cap.

Compliance buyouts are allowed next offseason, as well.

Or is there a rule about not being able to buy out a player a year after signing them to a contract?

He looked a little slow last season, so hopefully he works on his skating. He is a pure goal scorer though, so he could surprise. I think Torts will put him in a position to succeed. If he plays a full season, i'd be disappointed with anything less than 20.

Where does Jensen slot in on this team next year? Barring a trade I don't see him making the team.

I think because its a new CBA contract not pre CBA. Don't quote me on that I haven't read that far into it yet.

He's my sleeper for being a full time NHLer.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Booth - Kesler - Kassian
Higgins - TBD - Hansen

While I wouldn't have a big problem with having Hansen or Higgins on the 4th line, it seems unlikely. Jensen's a possibility, but he'd have to have an amazing camp (fingers crossed) otherwise he's better off developing in Utica.

Matthias just resigned in Florida. 2 years @ $1.75M per. Would have looked real good on Canucks 3rd line.

I am truly curious to see how JT and his new crew handle these guys. I think we will see players thrive that we would have thought otherwise.

You know I don't know what's going to happen but based on what Gillis said(which doesn't mean shyt) I don't want to see this line up next year even with a better coach. This is my idea...trade Edler for Ryan or second choice Connelly and sign Hannan and Blum for D. Let the rookies play...Bo and Hunter.

Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Burrows-Kesler-Ryan
Shinkaruk-Horvat-Jensen
Booth-Higgins-Hansen

Bieksa-Hamhuis
Garrison-Tanev
Hannan-Corrado

Blum

So Tanev.....? Is there an agreement in "place" or is this a slight standoff by both camps?

Brad Zeimer is reporting that the sides haven't spoken in several days.

I'm not worried.

If a team offer sheets him for over $1.628, take the second rounder and run.

I'd even be open to trading him.

The Canucks would have to match. Tanev's too valuable to give up for a 2nd rounder. An offer sheet would really mess with our cap for this season. If he was to get an offer sheet there's no way it would be less than $2M per. Likely $2.5M+

Corrado easily replaces Tanev. Anything over 2m is too much.

I wouldn't go over $1.75 per on Tanev. He's not even worth that unless he gives up a year or two of UFA eligibility.

A 2nd rounder is the compensation once the OS gets over $1.682m.

I'd take a 2nd rounder and let Tanev walk for over $1.75 and let Corrado take his place.

Tanev's got some potential, but at this point he's nothing more than a decent bottom pairing D who played under 18min a game against bottom 9 players.
