I'm not talking about "most GM's" though... I'm talking about how sh!t should be dealt with here. You can't manage your team based on the idiocy of other GMs. - DrChristianTroy
Hold on a moment. This is a discussion on whether the Sedins signed for below market value. Which they did. Far below because other GMs would have given them more if they'd had the opportunity to steal them away (even though there were 2 of them).
You are trying to bring common sense and logic into a discussion on NHL free agency. There is no common sense or logic when it comes to NHL free agency! |

This is a draft lottery line up - VANTEL
It isn't, actually.
It's a better lineup than they iced this year—it doesn't include Raymond, Ebbett, A. Gordon, and Barker or Ballard.
Addition by subtraction.
And with any luck it will include Kesler for most of the season, and maybe even an improvement from Kassian, Schroeder, and Tanev....maybe even another youngster or two.
It probably won't win the division, though.
And technically a "lottery lineup" now consists of every team that doesn't make the playoffs, so the term itself is quite a bit different than what it was during the last CBA. |

They will score more than us and be tougher . They are on the way up and we are declining - VANTEL
Their D and goaltending are absolutely horrible. Unless they fix those they will be a very bad team again next season. |

Can't speak for everyone but I'm disappointed that nothing has been done to improve secondary scoring. It isn't reassuring at this point going in to the next season with virtually no player personnel changes. Of course that might change but not sure how given cap restraints. - docmorgan
Healthy Kesler and Booth are supposed to fix secondary scoring. Hoping that with Tortorella Booth could have a really good year. |

Come on man, you know Vantel is a drama queen, I wouldn't take his comments so seriously.
Next they'll sign Dave Steckel and suddenly Vantel will have us winning the cup..... |

Are you sure you're talking about the Oilers.
The Canucks are certainly not one of the "tougher" teams in the league, but I don't see any way EDM is tougher.
This is getting a bit extreme....quick MG, trade for half the (non-playoff) Flyers roster... |

Pessimism at its finest.
I don't understand why people set the bar so low. Maybe because if they get into the playoffs, they've exceeded expectations?
This team will challenge for the cup again soon, so stop trippin'. - Gullzy
A lot of this here lately. Things are happening. We just don't see it all.
As far as this reset it depends on how you look at it. All I know is 2 major events have happened we have gained some great potential. We are still strong on the back end have some great leaders and youth on the way up. We are a couple key moves from getting even better. |

The twins signe those deals before they were 100 point, art ross / hart trophy winners. There are plenty of just as good or better players, who have signed before and after the Sedins did for similar money. Could they have gotten more from another team? Certainly, but what is lost on you is that EVERY player who has ever re-signed with their existing team could likely have gotten more on the open market. - 1970vintage
They were still legit point/game players in their prime when they signed the deals.
Those players usually go for more than $6.1 million....unless maybe they sign 8-12 year cap circumvention deals, which the Sedins didn't. |

How was this lost on me? All I said was they took below market value, which you seem to agree on. So what's your problem??? |

Also, what is lost on you is that many players re-signing with their existing teams do not take a lot less than what they could have gotten on the open market. |

I have no idea why everyone is bagging on the Sedins again? They are the most productive players on this team yet we dump on them every chance we get.
I say we keep them until they decide to retire. Their role can slowly be reduced as they mentor the next wave...... |

Free agency hasn't even started and hardly any trades have happened across the NHL, yet the Canucks are already a lottery team. Nice fans. No wonder Luongo wants out so badly. Freakin' unbelievable. Probably the same fans who didn't think they'd make the playoffs last year. |

Agreed but they aren't getting any better and need to get slid down to the second line asap. |

No. Management still thinks he's a good player. Just hasn't had a real opportunity with Kesler yet because they've both (mainly Kesler) been injured for virtually Booth's entire time in Vancouver. |

I don't like that lineup that Lefty posted but I also don't think it will be our top 9 either. |

Also, they could trade him if they wanted. Would just have to wait till later in the summer when he's recovered. |

There aren't many first lines in the league that produce at the level the Sedins produce, I think sliding them down to the second line is a tad premature...... |

If they get Clarkson and they just drafted Nurse too he likes to fight. |
