Last year was a complete write off for Booth. If the Canucks wanted to trade him they could. They just wouldn't get anything back for him.
- KB3Point0

devils couldn't even get a 7th rounder for hedberg and bought him out, I don't see anyone taking Booth in a trade unless/until he shows he can score and stay healthy again, and if that happens the Canucks are likely better off keeping him

Unlike previous seasons there will be a few spaces available in the lineup for kids to grab at camp this year.

It will be prospects best chance this year.

Sources say Iginla wants to come to Vancouver

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Booth Kesler Iginla
Hansen Schroeder Higgins

Still not sold on Schroeder as a 3rd line C.

4th line would include Kassian but I'd like to see Gillis get a couple legit 4th liners. Also wouldn't mind seeing Mallet get a try there.

I think if Luo comes back the Canucks will likely make the playoffs, I doubt it'll be a really bad year. I do suspect based on how it looks at the moment that they'll be a bit worse than last year however a trade or a couple good depth signings could change that. Plenty of time over the summer to make any additions or changes.

Clarkson will sign for stupid money and term, then in 2 years the team will be trying to get him off the books (trade or waive), probably Leafs.

I know the Leafs fans come here to rag on MG and Luongo, but cmon. Grabo just signed his contract, the ink wasn't even dry and a year into it, boom bought out.

less points in the standings and no division title? I'm sorry, did you finish worst overall last year? There is room to decline.

Sure they can. He'll just have to take a bit of a discount to play close to his family. Sign him to a 2 year, $8 million deal. If he's any kind of father he'll do it!

agreed, that's pretty funny (read: embarassing) for the leafs. It was a stupid contract right from the start...which was only a year ago lol

Uh... Hedberg's 40. Do you seriously not think any team would take Booth for a 7th round pick? He makes $4.25M and he only has 2 years left on his contract. It isn't a big risk and it has big upside. Too many teams need offense.

Although you're right, I don't think the Canucks trade him because I think they want to keep him.

I think a lot hinges on whether Torts and Co. can fix the cluster(frank) D pairings AV and Bowness played musical chairs with last season.

Canucks have $7.5 million in cap space. $4 million for Iginla leaves them with $3.5 million to sign Tanev and maybe some other plug for league minimum.

We can if he decides he wants a shot at winning here rather than taking big money elsewhere. He could sign a 1 year deal for $2M. Or, if he was going to sign here the Canucks could ship out Booth...

Its funny how adding one player makes the team look stronger. Even if he is getting old. A couple years at the right price can't be a bad thing.

They could buy out Booth on regular buyout. Save 2.8 in cap space this year and next . A 4 year hit of 1.4 against the cap
- VANTEL

An option, for sure.

Don't see it happening this year, though.

He'll be in the lineup, or on the IR.

Or maybe traded, if MG can find a taker for a late pick.

last time he scored 30 goals was 6 years ago. Last time he scored more than 20 was 4 years ago. He's been injured for serious amounts of time in 4 of the last 6 seasons. He's a massive risk, with upside. That massive risk is why no one is going to commit that chunk of cap space to him, to have him go down with injury and be left with a hole in the lineup. Ballard would be a better player to pick up and he was bought out. Talk about overvaluing players, after Ballard and Luongo, hasn't anything clicked?

He was awfully slow this year I don't really want him. I want younger. Vancouver is turning into a rest home for retired playrs Sundin Samuelsson M.Schneider Iggy .Forget him.

But with Kesler and Booth healthy, AV finally gone, no goalie controversy (assuming Luongo reports happy with his buckets of money) the team should actually be better than they were last year...

We need to sign Iginla's type of guy every once in a while otherwise people will think MG is racist. Bad enough that they haven't qualified Prab Rai.
