If they trade for big bufff Im officially a kings fan - Winning
If coots/mez straight up for buff was the deal I'd be on board. I enjoy watcing buff play. Giving up any more assets than that though...

adding Couts to dump Mez makes no sense in any universe - Marc D
Think of it more this way. They need to lose one defenseman. At this point Homer knows what the market is for Coburn and Mesz. Both are devalued.
If you dump Coburn, then next year you will only have Schenn, Grossmann and Streit as locks, and Grossmann is a risk. Gus may step up, but he may also falter. No prospect is likely ready. That is a real risky position to be in next year.
They have depth for the third line center slot with Laughton, and to me signing Hall means a much more likely option that one of Schenn, Laughton or Couts is traded.
A package with Couts and Mesz gets you something back, keeps Coburn and loses Mesz salary. |

Flyers still give the players the best deals
and if things go bad, they are not afraid to correct their mistake(s) - Marc D
I'd love to see a one-year deal for Emery; make it a competition for the starting job and a contract next year. Those two guys would play their balls off.

NHL - Flyers and Emery deal seems imminent and will likely be a 2yr deal for slightly less than 3mil a year, terms are not finalized, close

all depends on what they are getting back
a potential top pair D man under 26yr old, otherwise its a fail, imo |

There are very few that I would move him for, and of those few, even fewer even remotely possible.
The one name I think is a realistic possibility... Zach Bogosian. |

I hear you. I could be wrong, but I think he does not have quite as much value in the market as everyone seems to believe, and even less so in a package with Mesz. I'd also consider a package with Laughton. |

I like Emery. I just hope his hips can hold up.
Of all the options left, he's the one I dislike the least (if that makes sense).
Also, if the $3m/year is true, I knew he'd get more than folks were thinking last month ($2m/yr). He was 17-1 last year for crying out loud. You think he's not going to cash in on that? |

Same here. We will see with time if he is legit, just thought it was odd that he's all of a sudden predicting everything the flyers will do. I know nothing about him. |
