We've had this conversation many times before. No it doesn't stop it from happening. But someone is going to have to stand up for teammates and fight on occasion. Montreal doesn't want Prust doing it as much as he had to last Season. 10 fighting majors in 48 games. That's too much. That's why they acquired Parros. And that's why the Flyers have Rosehill. - MJL
Rosehill signing doesn't bother me bc of the price. Doesn't hurt the club. |

Thank goodness for the new CBA and the lowering of the cap. Maybe it will finally stop all of these absurd signings. - 77rams
The last lockout will solve absolutely nothing. |

The #Bruins have $5.2M in cap space with Iginla signed, factoring in the bonus cushion. Rask left to sign. http://www.capgeek.com/bruins/ |

That's terrible. He's a 3.5m per year play IMO. |

I don't doubt it -- desperation of continuous losing in a city where players don't want to go is just as inflationary to salaries as large-market teams.
I'm always amazed at how people curb-stomp the Flyers for deals they make when maybe the single-biggest salary escalator in the last CBA was Edmonton offer-sheeting Thomas Vanek. - AllInForFlyers
The Flyers got crucified for the Lecavalier and Streit deals. Same people praised Dupuis and Iginla moves and were fine with Clarkson, Horton and Clowe. |

Don't worry about it. Salaries for top players have not gone up! It's just your imagination.

If that were only the case. We would be loaded with talent at a cheap price. |

I knew you were being facetious...just still pisses me off. The lockout and artificial cap reduction will hurt the Flyers for a year and then see the cap jump like Spudd Webb within a few years |

Im fine with the Vinny contract. Streit was not good. Other contract you mention are terrible. Of course every UFA season we say the same thing. I can't believe they paid so and so that much. That's just the UFA game. |

Apparently the deal is up to 6mil in bonuses. Not a 6mil cap hit. |

Come on buddy. 1-2 yrs too much and 1m too much. It's clear as day to most folks. I understand why we got him because of a seriuos need. Im not regretting it. Just trying to look at it objectively. |

For those who don't know this, let me throw out there that I'm black. I just wanted to say that this offseason has been super exciting but today has been incredible for me in the sense that I can now say that the Flyers have had two black hockey players on this team at one time. This to me is bigger then having a black president!! - dingo8urbaby

Middle class of NHL players will see the crunch. Top Free Agents are still going to get paid. That's both RFA and UFA.

It makes no sense, man -- I've been railing about this for two days, because it's like the world has gone mad. Totally insane.
I look at some of these deals and I'm just flat-out shaking my head at how the Flyers get brutalized like they do by people, including some of our own fans.
Val Filppula got five years, $25 million today. VAL FILPPULA. Whose career high in goals is 23. Whose career high in points is 66. He's never had more than 40 points in ANY OTHER SEASON HE'S PLAYED.
Meanwhile, some people hate Scott Hartnell -- who has not had fewer than 40 points in seven years, when he was injured and had 39 points in 64 games -- and only makes $4.75 million per season!
That's a horrible deal for Val Filppula! It can't be justified! There is no justification for that contract! NONE!
I know you get it, some others. But I say it again: We will miss Paul Holmgren when he's gone. |

Bonus money isn't free on the Cap. It still has to be accounted for. His cap hit is 6M.
