This is how the Flyers were penalized on this year's cap. LTIR for all of the players they put on it plus salary paid to players on the roster went over the cap ceiling, along with players reaching some of their bonuses made the bonuses count towards this year's cap.

Yes, that is how using LTIR can cause Cap penalties on the following Season. Bonuses can only be pushed over to the following Season, if it puts a team over the Upper limit. Limited to 7.5M a Season.

I look at is as more of he had one very good year, that was an outlier. I think if he plays well he can still be a 20 goal, 50 point player who plays a hard 2 way game. That's what the Devils are hoping for.

They didn't change anything. The bonus cushion works just as it always has. Those bonuses were a different type of bonuses.
