It is crazy, never thought I would see Vinny on a different team. Gonna look weird seeing him in orange and black - TPC
I had a conversation with a Tampa fan today. I told him that it was odd that Tampa would buy out Vinny's big contract just to sign Filpula to a big contract. He went on to tell me that Filpula is a better player than Vinny. I tried to tell him politely that he's delusional if he actually thinks that, and cited some stats over the past few years to prove my point. But he was convinced that Tampa got a better player at a cheaper price. He also insisted that Danny Briere was much better than Vinny, and I continued to insist that he's just not correct, and again cited stats, but he had already convinced himself. He has no respect for his former captain, and I hope all Tampa fans aren't like that. |

Wait till Homer loses his mind and trades for EKane and PK Subban. - GirouxForTheShow
I don't like how either player carries himself. Kane away from the ice, Subban on it. Kane lips off on twitter about being black and bragging about money. Subban is a diver and over embellishes. I feel both players have the ability to be better then that. Simmonds is a player to look up to. Emery has grown up before our eyes. |

Alfredsson left Ottawa because he didn't feel he could win a Cup there. According to Bryan Murray, they never talked $$, Alfredsson just talked about winning the Cup. - Jsaquella

Murray said here that they talked numbers Saturday, this is a great read too. It's such a tender situation. |

Simmonds is the man and his play for his cap hit is crazy. Tied up for the next 6 at under 4 million a year? Clowe just got a million dollars more for the next 5 years. |

Dreger also stated it, that money was an issue at first, Melnyk wanted him back but on the cheap, when he explored other options & possibly winning a cup elsewhere, Melnyk changed his mind & offered more cash, but he was sold on moving for cup reasons by then |

I read that too, something like Melnyk said here's a blank check get it done. I can't blame Alfie but also can't wait to see the first Detroit Ottawa game. |

they had Dreger & Bob McKenzie on NHL network, & he said Melnyk only offered the blank check after playing hardball with him, Travis Yost had 3 recent blogs on Ottawa's self imposed budget & how Melnyk is against spending, as he did so before in past seasons without results |

Sure, but just in terms of a comparison, it's great for the Flyers. I don't give NJ a pass because they were desperate. |

Homer had a good day, and made all of the other fans who thought we over payed Vinny stop talking when Horton signed his 7 year, Clarkson got $6 mil, Iginla got $6 mil I believe, etc. Also made the other GMs look silly by resigning Emery for $1.65 mil. He'll still be hated and crucified for it, though |

What are the Rangers up to this offseason? They've done like nothing, including not buying out Richards, and had essentially a bust of a draft with the whole not having a pick in the 1st 2 rounds thing, and now they've lost Clowe. Not meaning to sound rude by this btw, but what the (frank) is the plan for you guys? |

i still have my opinions on homer and today didnt change it. typically, what makes him a good gm sometimes makes him a bad gm. the man swings for the fences and has little to no restraint. sometimes you hit home runs. but sometimes you strike out. either way, the man typically has no interest in singles.
that being said, i agree. contracts are (frank)ing insane around the league |

The Rangers have about 13 mil in cap space. They need to get their 4 RFAs under contract (McDonagh, Stepan, Hagelin, and Zuccarello). That is why they aren't doing much. They don't have the cap space. Have their own players to worry about. |

Idk he hasn't shown that so far. Streit was no home run, more like a double
Same with Emery. Thomas was a "home-run" move you personally might expect from Homer, but he went with the safer, and frankly probably smarter option of Emery. |

Oh I see. They missed out on many of the big FAs because of that, though. I guess there's still Jagr and Thomas. |

That was the "expense" of getting the biggest FA. Looks as though many others wanted more for similar lengths. |
