Scuderi at 3 mill seemed reasonable. Stalberg seemed to have a reasonable deal. - ses111
stalberg was scratched for the playoffs until they had a hole due to injury. That's worth 3 per for 4?
I think not.

As koolaide guy I am usually the half full guy on this board. That said this year was a real opportunity for the islanders. With so many teams dumping quality players via trade, buy out and waiver b/c of cap restraints a team with cap room... Nay... Cap room to the FLOOR. it was a good time to grab a top tier player. Instead we have done the normal which is a bunch of Long shots... and past their prime guys. I would have rathered one exiting sign ... even an overpayment and let the kids fill the rest. (I think the Schneider trade was the big miss.. if Nino and the pick did not get it done.. He should have done something to get it done). - niteislander
all im saying is the offseason is 3 hours old!!! at least give garth some time to operate. maybe hell make a trade maybe he wont but you can judge the guy before the final result is in place...no? |

It would have be nice to get Schneider... but other than that, not much out there!!! - jimmc7722
When you are in the position we are with goaltending you get it done. Toronto was in better shape then we were and they made it happen. That's what GM's get paid to do. I know you guys have a hard time with this concept. |
I really believe Weiss can be a good 2nd line player. - SCLI
He may be.
Like I said. Hes a good player but I havent seen all that much of him. I'm really not in a position to make an argument one way or the other.
Sadly does not matter now. Would have made it easier to move Frans for some D. |

Emery would've been nice. Anyone, you have to improve after last years playoffs. You don't think so? - Cptmjl
Fair enough. Do you think it's possible Nabby was just so worn out by playoff time that he just ran out of gas? The shortened season didn't allow him to rest at all down the stretch. And let's not forget that he was one of the few seasons we even made the playoffs to begin with. It's only 1 year. |

Obviously not.
Not privy to what goes on behind the scenes but after seeing what we got so far today. We still have the same open holes in our lineup. |

Hamonic for 7 years @ $27 us another fantastic contract. No need to get impatient with signings. Isles are focused on the long term. No need to overpay.

You are right.. and there is a lot of summer left and some guys are way over the cap right now... but you can understand the frustration. We finally have some of the big players out of the picture b/c of cap issues and we get outshined by Columbus. |

It's become more blaringly obvious every offseason that either Snow gets zero respect league wide or he's just not a capable salesman for the job. Pick one. |

Snow has to hope Bernier is not the real deal and Poulin or Nilsson are. I was ok not giving up a lot for Bernier so I cannot kill Garth. Fans have the luxury to second guess things though. |

Nabby has always choked in the PO's. Famous for giving up soft goals before someone posts his PO stats from SJ. |

In net, not upset with Nabby resigning for 1 year. Means they have faith in someone in the system. (Or think by trade deadine, someone will be there to take) Only one I would have went after was Schneider through trade so far. Miller is not worth it, Halak is scary with play and injuries and Hiller, no one knows if he's really available.
Before the summer is up, I still want a good top 4 d man that plays the PP and a #1 RW. Do I think either will happen? No. But they just drafted 8 defensive players in a row. Not all of those players will be able to fit into the NHL lineup. The organizations job is to figure out which ones fit their system and which ones they can dangle for other pieces.
If nothing is done and this is their lineup, I'll be going to to a few games here and there but for the most part, enjoying watching them from couch. |

In today's NHL it is. I'm fine with not getting Stalberg. I was only upset with the Regin signing right after FA opened. Other than that I have not killed Snow. |
