Rangers brass did not meet with the Briere camp as your team did.
And this is not about Rangers Icelanders. I was simply pointing out that Snow and Wang will no longer have the arena issue to hide behind. Dee calls them a team short a couple of players from being a serious contender (laughable). If that's the truth, combined with the arena issue being settled (Brooklyn), then there is no excuse. Why wouldn't free agents come? Because neither of those are accurate.

Team is still hemorrhaging money to the tune of $16 million per season. If you don't think that plays a factor then remedial math may be in order
Has anyone actually confirmed that Isles 'brass' met with Briere? We dont really need a center. We need a wing, and not a member of the lollipop guild like Briere.

Again, folks- this team HAS TO commit $12.5m more to its roster this year. HAS TO. No wiggle room there. By September, we will likely have at least two more veteran players here. No choice.... |

This is exactly what I was saying and couldn't agree more....makes me crazy when you are wanting that big signing but I respect that part of Snow's game..... of course you may now be told to relax so look out..... - Nolanders
He let a lot of guys go that ended up being bust big contracts.. and scooped a lot of guys that were supposed to stink (Moulson, Strait, Grabner, etc.).. He certainly has some WTF's too in Reasoner, Pando, Mottau, etc. but in general I think he has a very good track record with judging talent. |

At this stage if the Isles are offering the same or more money and are still be rejected, that is very troubling. Future still should be very bright regardless of what happens with free agency this year though. |

so says the guy who roots for a team that finished 1 point ahead of the laughable islanders while spending significantly more money...islanders are in a much better position than the rangers are moving forward. |

We can get there pretty quicly if Hamonic commands $4.5 mil, Bailey $2-2.5, Hickey, and a goalie. I don't expect much.

Huh...relax....I'm not talking about today...I'm saying I think that is how he does the deal...I respect it to be honest....he won't be needing a buyout next season like all the others GMs...so who needs to relax now.... - Nolanders
my bad...just seems like a lot of doom and gloom already...even before FA begins. |

I don't know.. the same I would not blame a player. We are stil in that Arena for 2 years, worst Tax rate on the planet, etc. ... If we offer More and are shot down that is upsetting. |

It's probably only one more year. It's Brooklyn with a young and upcoming team with JT. No excuse. It's fine if the Isles do not want to overpay for medicore talent. If it's a guy they really want and the offer is the same or better and the guy rejects them? That is terrible at this stage. |

I don't think Garth is even offering these guys. Briere would have signed here for a decent price. |

I'm not sure he is either and that's fine. Isles should be all in on a guy like Scuderi. Make him turn down a big deal. |

I agree. Force him to say no to 4.5. I can accept Scuderi not signing with the Isles, just not with Pitt though. |

why?
amac hamonic
visnovsky hickey
strait donovan
carkner
is scuderi much better than any of those guys? Maybe Carkner, but then are we going to sit donovan out for scuderi? Not wise IMO. We have about 8 defensive prospects who are going to press for playing time over the next 2-3 years, why block them with a defense first player who can't skate when the team is built around speed? Even our grit players can skate (except carkner)
I don't see a need on defense with any of the UFA's, none of them are a significant upgrade over what we have. We could use a goalie and maybe one top six forward. The only real need atm is in net. Strome, Nelson and Lee could fill out our forwards if they're ready and our defense is adequate. Just fill the spot in net and then go trolling for a top six if available, if not, resign our rfa's, get to the floor with those contracts and a goalie and move on.
We've been waiting on these prospects for a while now, and now that they're on the edge of making the team we're going to block them with a crappy UFA signing?
Makes no sense. If a trade is available for significant improvement then I'm all for that, otherwise a goalie and our rfa's is fine.

I'll take Scuderi over Amac, Hickey, and Strait easily. The guy is a 2 time Cup winner and very strong dman. Isles could always use more d. The Pitt series showed they need more D and goalies. |

Everyone complained about Amac last season. He was far from a top pair "D"
Lubo is terrific with the puck but pretty average with out it.
No way in hell is hickey a top 4 "D" man
Strait? Better then who?
Donovan pretty much untested in the NHL!
Our "D" is far from terrific.
We can use some help until those prospects are ready in 2-3 yrs.
