What do you think it would take to get AP? I think the cost is much higher than most of these proposals. - TheGreat28
If I was St. Louis, I wouldn't do it unless I got Couturier, Coburn, Read, a first and Robert Hagg.
To me, you have to get a projectable defenseman as part of the deal. Coburn is for the present, but the pick and Hagg means you have two shots to replace what you lost, if you're St. Louis.
And if you're them, you know you're going to need every shot you can get to replace that guy. |

I have to ask this cause embarrassingly I dont know. AP is an RFA...so hypothetically say we trade three top assets for him...what is stopping another team from coming in and offering a a crazy monetary deal after we trade for him? I assume they would be able to work out a deal with AP before the trade was consummated right? - nonpoint22
I think to give up the boatload of stuff to get him it would have to be a done deal worked out in advance
you can't make the trade otherwise |

Nothing. That's why any smart GM would have Pietrangelo agree in principle to a new contract before they traded for him. |

Rich Smith @ALLsportsINTEL 5m
NHL - Source - The 3 teams most likely to make a run at Blues star Pietrangelo is Oilers, Flyers and Flames, Oilers and Flyers more likely
Rich Smith @ALLsportsINTEL 18m
NHL - Im aware of how good Pietrangelo is, that he isn't even in his prime yet, however dealing 2 top 6 forwards +, may hurt more than help
Hockey Tracker @Hockey_tracker 26m
CSNPhilly reports the #Flyers are monitoring the situation with the #STLBlues & Pietrangelo who has not yet accepted his qualifying offer
THIS IS VERY INTERESTING... - stveshdy
Personally, I'd go Hartnell, Read and a 1st.

I figured as much, but I thought about that and I know a team with a lot of cap space might enjoy putting the screws to us, like we have done to so many others, with our current cap situation |

NJ getting Schneider > Emery. Just saying.
Edit: probably Bernier trade as well - TheGreat28
Absolutely, but I was talking strictly about pending FA (that's why I included Streit in the discussion since he would have been).
Forward: Lecavalier over any forward on the market.
Defenseman: Streit would have some competition with Ference and Scuderi.
Goalie: Emery I would have taken over Nabokov. |

I don't think that even gets a conference call that lasts longer than the time it takes for St Louis to hang up on you. |

The blues will give the flyers an opportunity to agree to terms before trade is finalized. |

Yes he's 5 years younger than Weber and almost just as good. We could work out a trade that only includes Coots OR Schenn. Or give STL a blank trade sheet and let them name their own price, either way it'd still be worth it or us - JAKEw1234
Whoa, let's not get carried away. Top line complete defenseman yes, but he's not nearly the same physical player that Weber is, and his shot isn't nearly as heavy. |

See, the thing about this is that this isn't a negotiation. This is an auction. Low-balling them isn't going to get you the player. It simply isn't that kind of transaction.
They aren't going to accept a trade they don't want. They'll match an offer sheet out of spite, then trade him 365 days later to anybody but you.
If you're in it, step up with one of your strongest offers and try to close the deal cleanly. Because, again, this isn't a negotiation.
St. Louis is going to get exactly what they want for the player, if they trade him. Low-balling is just wasting your time, and theirs. |

Couts, Simmonds, Grossmann or Coburn woud be hard for another team to top.
I dont have a problem moving Couts for a Dman with our Center depth. No problem moving one of those two D men either. Simmonds would definitely sting a little tho. |
