Meszaros for a future 7th round pick. - ob18
There was never much of a chance of Homer being able to fix this D, so why complicate things? Unload Meszaros and have Gustafson replace him on the third pair. Streit gives us the puck movement lost when Matt Carle left. Our D isn't perfect but it is an NHL defense. Sign Gagne once Meszaros' money is dumped. Gagne maybe not be the scorer he once was but his play away from the puck is welcomed. He can only help the team defense on the ice as a whole. |

my nightmare scenario was couturier being dealt for ryan miller - FlyerMike18
or byfuglien
or any calgary flame
but yeah, no miller in philly
I like ryan and think he is a hell of goalie but don't think for a second he would work in philly |

I think Gagne is in the same boat Jagr was in last year. Jagr just couldn't wait it out. Hopefully Simon will have the patience and Homer will save the space. - section32
Bad comparison. Jagr had multiple suitors. I don't think any other team has interest in Gagne and he doesn't want to play anywhere else. It should be a cheap contract for Gagne if Holmgren just does his job. |

I'm over the moon. Homer has managed to add to this team rather then subtract. I think this is a cup contender again. I also feel like he has done it the right way. I was on the Bobby Ryan bandwagon but Lecavalier was only a minor surprise. Lecavalier is a better player and a much better fit here in philly. |

I'd say thats fairly accurate. They may use Gus instead of gagne on the 2nd PP. I could also see them giving more PK time to Hall and maybe Laughton. I have a feeling Giroux will be put into many more scoring opportunities this season. I don't want to see him on the PK a lot or taking too many d zone draws. |

the thing I'm wondering about now is will Homer swing for the moon now...
what I mean is look for a young top pairing defenseman and pay the exorbitant price
he has been able to plug the holes by signing free agents and only using up cap space, but I doubt he will get his high end defenseman they still need with this strategy
but I have to say I am a huge fan so far, keeping the youth and identifying the free agents he wanted and getting them
sure the vinnie and streit deal are a year or two too long, but he payed that price to assure he got the players he wanted, and kept Couts/Schenns/Simmonds/Jake on the team
way to go Homer |

This is what I was wondering too. Seems to solve the problem. The still need to clear $ before the season starts though. |

Why not?
I know he was a hard sign for MTL and is a younger top pairing dman, who has a huge upside.....they wanted morin. It might work for both teams. Is it too much for the flyers......not if pk is here for the next 10 years on the top pairing. |

I love to see them do what Boston does on the PK. quick short shifts with a five guy rotation. However, Flyers always seem to either be pinned in their own zone or going on on 2 on 1 shorthanded |

Gagne's deal has to be 2 mil or under or its over payment.
Voracek G Hartnell
Simmonds Vinny Schenn
Gagne Cooter Read
Talbot Hall Rinaldo/Rosehill
Laughton back in Jr's.
McGinn firts call up?
That second line could be nasty to play against. - flyers2001
I might be the only one that is not crazy about that second line. Flip Read and Schenn. |

I really want to see Gagne (if he is here) with G on the PK in certain circumstances, especially if they are down a goal.
I think that pair will create some great short handed chances |

I would think a player like Gagne would still be an attrative signing now that all the "top" guys are signed. |
