Ok so they went out and bought the "best" goalie on the market signed him to a ridiculous deal and it blew up in their face...Now they have two guys fighting for jobs that arent costing them anything and that not good enough either... your missing the Leighton Boucher years arent ya - nonpoint22
I've seen almost 30 years of the two guy thing in net the best that has ever come of it is an embarrassing sweep by the red wings. |

Same here. I'd re-sign Gagne if I had the Cap space available for a one year deal. After any other moves that would be better for the long term success of the team, were explored, and determined to not be available to be made. - MJL
Agreed. Many were impressed by how he played last season when coming over. He's okay imo. Not worth more than 1-1.2M per. |

I'd rather them just hold onto the cap space and roster slot in case someone that is really worth it becomes available. Just a year ago we were talking about letting the team grow etc now we got old real fast... I'm worried and the redundancy of these moves is frustrating. - JoeRussomanno
I don't disagree with that Joe. But let's keep in mind , that in making any of the moves they've made this Off Season. It has not cost them any of that youth, nor is it going to stop the team from growing in any way.

I don't know if St. Louis would. But I would not give up 3 roster players. I'd take Read off of there. I personally don't believe that St. Louis is going to trade Piretrangelo - MJL
Yeah, I think it's a bit much. I kind of like were the Flyers are at right now. if a deal falls in their lap to upgrade then so b it. if not be patient and get what you can for mez and on of the bottom wingers. |

The Flyers are never going to do a traditional rebuild as long as Snider owns the team.
Saying that they got old real fast is really ignoring that they did so in large part to avoid trading any of the young nucleus. Actually, they got younger up front in trading Briere for Lecavalier. Teams need a mix of vets and kids to have success. |

The Flyers have done it a few times. Pete Peters and Phil Myre come to mind. And I would speculate that by the time the playoffs role around. It will be a one guy thing, not a two guy thing.

Like you have stated to me many times. The Flyers are going to spend to the cap. I like what they have done this offseason, much better than last year. |

At the very least, they'll have defensemen from the get go that are more able to play the system Laviolette's going to run. Timonen, Gustafsson and Streit can all move the puck well and are good passers. |

I remember that but that were just over matched by a incredible Red Wings team...as far as holding onto cap space I dont completely disagree, but I knew that Snider, the businessman and sportsman that he is, knew he couldnt sell this team to the fan base if their were no changes, so that idea may be more unrealistic in this town then any of our ridiculous rumors |

They need a defenseman and a goalie. Streit isn't the answer and neither is emery. Not trying to knock these players but I'm tired of this front office (frank)ing around. Emery came cheap because he's an injury risk and yet again another goalie that needs positioning and can't rely on his reflexes, well with this coach he's doomed.
So yea they should've stood pat and maybe just brought in another coach, go from there. Instead they bring in two free agents in lecalvier and emery that probably won't fit on top of that they awarded this captain with a monstrous contract after missing the playoffs when two years ago they traded his predecessor after getting bounced in the second round... It just goes on and onward but never upward. It's frustrating |

Not yet it hasn't . I feel like they're stockpiling vets to dampen the fallout that's coming when they do move them |

What do you think Buffalo would want? I would be interested in Myers. Coming off a terrible year and shouldn't be ridiculous price wise. |

i hear you man. all valid points.
my main concern is lavy.
but im excited about this season. it could be a disaster like you say, but i also think homer gave this team a shot in the arm that it was lacking last year |

He doesn't have to sell the team he just has to have the doors open two hours prior to puck drop, the house will fill just like it did in the 90s. |

I'm banking on mason elevating his play, the schenns and coots taking a step forward and yes possibly streit is the xfactor of that blue line but I have a feeling this contract is gonna weigh down Giroux. |

My biggest concern is hoping Schenn and Couturier take another step. We need more from both offensively. There are times when they look good for ten games and then disappear for ten. |

Ok first they needed to sign a goalie they only had one on the roster and got the "injury prone" guy cheap, they obviously believe in mason..we shall see I am skeptical...As far as Giroux, you need to get over cause thats what it costs to keep a player of his skills..Lecavilier and Streit I can see your problem with these moves, but this team is never going to stand pat after a bad year, sometimes not after a good one either,....is it flawed I agree it is, but I have accepted that is how its going to be so if your at your frustration breaking point then maybe its time to find something else to root for because they are never gonna change |
